Denton Water Works

Charlie and I were able to visit Denton Water Works this weekend in exchange for this review. Even though I was given 4 passes the thoughts inside this post about our visit to Denton Water Works are all mine and mine alone.

Charlie knew we were going to Denton Water Works but not that we were going on Saturday. So Friday night when he was playing with Dylan I ran up to Walmarts to purchase a bathing suit for me and a Beach Towel. Then Saturday morning I put it on and went and woke Charlie up. He was so surprised to see David and I dressed for the water park.

Charlie jumped out of bed like it was Christmas Morning and ran clear to Dylan’s and woke him up. They came running back and jumped into the car and we took off for Denton Water Works. It is quite a drive from Haltom City but they were so excited that the ride didn’t bother them at all. Not one time did they even ask are we there yet which is what usually happens.

We head into Denton and I have so much fun looking around at all the businesses that I would like to take a weekend and just go up to Denton and rent a Hotel and let Charlie spend the whole weekend at Denton Water Works. I know he would love being able to do this and it would be something he would never forget. As we drove around I was so happy to find both a Dairy Queen and also a Panchos as we do not have them close to us. This made me want to move to Denton even more.

Once we turned onto the street close to Denton Water Works all I heard was I see it, I see it. Hurry daddy, hurry daddy. With Dylan chiming in saying let’s go. Then the boys telling us which slides they wanted to try out. David even started saying I want to ride this slide. It was nice to see how excited they all were. As Charlie isn’t home a lot with us as he spends a lot of time with his friends. Being about to bring Dylan was a plus because Dylan’s parents do not take him to places like this.

Once we arrived at Denton Water Works both Charlie and I were surprised to see there is a  Skate Park next to the Water Park which both boys want to go to the next time we come out to the park. We are going to bring their skateboards and if possible I am going to get him a pair of Inline Skates as I know he would like trying them out at the Skate Board Park as well.

We got out of the car and got into the line to go inside Denton Water Works and once it was our turn I let them know who we were. They had the passes waiting for us as well as the table they had reserved for us. I wouldn’t mind having Charlie’s Birthday Party here as I saw they hosted parties. The only thing is Charlie’s Birthday is in December and outside would be closed. Which is fine as we still have the inside pool which would be opened and we could use it for Charlies Birthday. As this would be unique and different from the Birthday parties we have hosted in the past.

Once inside we went to our table and left our stuff and went to walk around as I wanted to see what all they had for the boys to do. They found the kids area and I thought they might be too big to play in it but they were not. Then we walked by the Lazy River which I loved and couldn’t wait to try out. Then I took them over to the Slides to look at and they liked all three of them. I asked Charlie what he and Dylan thought of two of them being covered and they thought that was cool.

Then we went inside and walked around. I went upstairs and watched the swimmers who were practicing for a bit. I liked knowing you could sit and watch them and that you wouldn’t be in the way. It was nice to know you could bring in your ice chest. There was even a cute little waiting area where we could have sat and rested at. Charlie has said if it was closer he would like to take Swimming lessons.

Then we went downstairs and they even had an inside slide which Charlie and Dylan loved. They rode this slide over and over and over. Once they were done we played in the pool a bit. It was so warm I would have lived in this pool if they would have let me. They even played basketball while David and I sat on the bench and watched them. All in all, I think the slide inside was the favorite of both boys.

Then we walked outside and they rode one of the slides but wasn’t quite tall enough for one. Which is OK as the next time we go back they should be and it will give them something to look forward to. David went down the slides with them and he enjoyed it and said he didn’t get stuck like at some places. They all liked the fact that they were able to use inner tubes.

I finally got them into the Lazy River where Dylan and Charlie used Inner Tubes and David and I walked. I loved the Lazy River and it is long enough that it allowed me to get all my steps in. Lazy River was so peaceful that I can not wait to go back so I can use there Lazy River again. The water was so calm and the waterfall so pretty. This was my favorite out of all we did except playing in the pool with Charlie.

The people that were there with their children were so nice that I even made a couple new friends and Charlie did as well.so did Charlie. Both Charlie and I hope they are there when we visit the Water Park the next time. If not then it isn’t Gods will and we will just make new friends as Charlie is so good at that. Just as his sister Suzzane was able to do. No matter where we went.

If the boys had gotten hungry we could bring a lunch as you can take an ice chest inside but they also sell food and gifts in the Gift Shop. Along with snack machines in the inside part. Along with a Snack Hut that sells Snow Cones. I was so good as I didn’t get one as they are not on my diet. But boy oh boy I wanted a Coconut Snow Cone and the next time we come I am going to get both Charlie and I one. Diet or no diet.

I liked knowing tall through the Water Park are Life Guards and the Red Cross, as well as this, shows me it is a safe place for my son to play in. I didn’t feel scared when I went to lay out and Charlie and Dylan were playing by themselves as I felt like they would be safe. David even left them and went up on the slide. We wouldn’t leave them alone at most places we go to So this must tell you this is a safe place for children of all ages to come to.

I liked seeing all the different classes they host like Water Polo and Swimming Lessons and would like to come back and watch these classes as it isn’t anything Charlie or I have ever seen before. I like knowing the Water Park also offers sports camps and special events as well. I wouldn’t even mind hosting a Networking Meeting here as the kids could play while the parents work. This would be a lot more fun than Mcdonald’s as the moms could even play.

Charlie and David liked knowing there were two machines that squirt water and they had a lot of fun playing with the guns. There were right next to our table so when I was resting they could still play as they were able to use these. We were close to the lockers which were nice because it meant all of our items was close by. I liked that they even have a bench you can sit on when using the lockers.

Charlie and Dylan were even able to use the restroom without me being scared someone would bother them. I was amazed at how clean they kept the restrooms because the park was so busy. If you had any problems at all all you had to do was find an employee and they would get it taken care of very quickly. As their goal is to keep the park safe for everyone visiting.

I had both boys, David and I to get bracelets on when we arrived and a lady that works at the park walked up and offered to help us which was a nice perk. I have never had that at other parks we have gone to. The bracelets were easy to put on and take off. They didn’t get messed up in the water and they didn’t tear. They will fit on anyone of any size from adults to children alike.

If you plan on attending soon pick up the 2014 Summer Fun Guide as there is a $2 off coupon in it. I know when we return we will be using the coupon. As I am thinking of asking all of our neighbors to take a run up to Denton Water Works on Saturday and making a day of it as it will be fun to spend some time with the neighbors in a new area where the children can play and we can get to know each other better.

If you are looking for a fun Date Night or something unique to do with the children then you should check out the movies they host at Denton Water Park. These are at Quakertown Park which Charlie and I will be checking out soon.

So from food, shopping, and Water Parks Denton has all you need for a Staycation or a Vacation just call the Parks and Recreation to see what all they have happening and come on out to Denton Water Works.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
