2016 Digital Homeschool Convention

Through the 2016 Digital Homeschool Convention, I will be listening to the class on “How to Raise Kids Who Love Giving Speeches.” I chose this class because Charlie loves to talk.

I’m not sure Charlie would be able to give a speech. So I’m excited to listen and not only learn how to get Charlie to give a speech but myself as well. I hate doing Speeches but running a business there are times where I have to speak in front of a crowd. It’s time to “Bite the Bullet” and learn how.

Teaching k-12 kids how to give a GREAT speech is one of my favorite things to do! When my kids were teens, I helped plant a local speech and debate club, Indianapolis REJOICE.

Each Fall, I had the privilege of coaching 30-40 teens (ages 13-18) in 10 different speech categories as we prepared for the NCFCA tournament season (January-June).

I’m proud to say that I had hundreds of competitors who won local, regional, and national awards. Although winning was sweet when all that hard work paid off, my greatest joy is that those kids who are now adults have the persuasive public speaking skills to lead with confidence. Hope you enjoy this workshop!

After his initial “deer in the headlights” speech freeze, Connor perfected his speaking skills and went on to win several first place awards at the local and regional level and five invitations to perform at the national championship in duo interpretive speech and team policy debate.
