Hold Your Own Backyard Olympics!

                                                                                        Hold Your Own Backyard Olympics!

Every year when Charlie is ready to head “Back to School” I have put together a party for him. This year I was thinking about hosting a “Camp-Out”, but it has been raining and so our yard looks like a lake. So, we may not be able to do anything this year other than have Cupcakes and punch.

But if it does dry out, I think I Charlie and I might host our own “Backyard Olympics. So today Charlie and I would like to invite you to “hold Your Own Backyard Olympics as well. And if you do come and share pictures with Charlie and me.

Hold Your Own Backyard Olympics! With all the excitement of the Olympics, it’s hard not to get involved.

Are you and your kids ready to go for the gold? With the Summer Olympics in full swing, you won’t want to miss the Little Passports list of Rio-ready activities to keep your little ones on their feet and having fun!

Create backyard events such as the Long Jump, Paper Plate Discus, and Squirt Gun Archery. Consider inviting over friends and neighbors and hold your own backyard Olympics!

To make your own Olympic flag for the opening ceremony, check out this DIY Olympic Flag Craft. To complete the opening ceremony, the Olympic torch is passed from athlete to athlete until it reaches the last person, who lights the stadium cauldron. Create your own Olympic torch for your mini-Olympic games.

Encourage your budding Olympians to learn about and represent different Countries. Dress up in your Country’s colors, march to the National Anthem, and wave the Country’s flag while standing on the podium!

Finally, learn more about Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics, with a subscription to                                                     Little Passports World Edition for 6–10-year Olds.

Let the games begin!

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
