Let’s Get Crafty with Salt-Dough

Charlie and I are conducting a review for a new Arts & Crafts Book called Let’s Get Crafty with Salt-Dough from Cico Kidz. Before I begin with my review  I would like to let you know Charlie and I  received the book in exchange for the review. Thoughts in this review are all mine and Charlies.

Charlie has worked with Salt-Dough in school and  in Church and in the Art class Charlie used to take at the recreation center. For me I’m sure I’ve used Salt-Dough when I was in school but I don’t remember it. Using Salt-Dough will be a new experience for both David and I.

I had David sit down with me and look through Let’s Get Crafty with Salt-Dough as I wanted to see if David thought Charlie would be able to do the Crafts. And if David thought Charlie would like doing the projects inside the Craft book. And David said he was sure Charlie would like doing the projects a  lot as it allows him to use his hands and to build items.

I looked through Let’s Get Crafty with Salt-Dough I noticed we had a lot of the supplies says we would need. So tomorrow if David is off we want to get Charlie into the kitchen to make the Salt-Dough with us.

I will watch sales and hit Garage sales I now know I need to pick up =Cookie Cutters and run by the Dollar Store to grab Googly Eyes which are suggested in the book.

I’m going to set up a dedicated spot in our home for our Craft supplies to be kept in. As this would keep the supplies and make creating crafts easy to complete as the items would be in one place. And we would not have to spend hours looking for the supplies we need to complete our projects.

With all the Back to School sales I should be able to find a lot of items on sale. So as you start your Back to School Shopping make sure you pick up lots of Craft Items as well. And don’t forget the Googly Eyes and Cookie Cutters.

I can’t wait to see which Craft Charlie decides to make. Because if it was me I would either do the Weather project or the Donuts. As you should have always have Donuts on hand. Its just to bad we cannot eat these Donuts. But abbey I can get David to run and pick some up for us before we get started on our projects.

If your Homeschooling like Charlie and I are Let’s Get Crafty with Salt-Dough would make a nice addition to your Homeschooling Art Class. Or to help with your Lessons especially if your studying the Weather.

These fun, colorful crafts are designed to bring out a young child’s creative side. The inventive ideas include salt-dough jewelry, cute animals, fun fruit, and Christmas decorations. The emphasis is on teamwork, with adults helping with the tricky steps, such as preparing the salt-dough, and the young children doing the fun and messy parts, such as rolling the dough, painting, and decorating. As well as being enjoyable, these salt-dough crafts will help to prepare children for school by developing their fine motor skills and encouraging them to concentrate on a task and complete it. The creative ideas will spark a child’s imagination and for both of you there will be great rewards in finishing a project. Best of all, getting crafty means enjoying some fun time together.

Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
