If Not For You

When we went to Richland Library this week, I picked up a variety of books to read including If Not For You written by Debbie Macomber I read the book jacket and in a way it seemed like I had read the book but then other times it was like it was a new story. I brought the hardback copy home and after reading the first couple chapters I knew I had read the story before but that didn’t stop me from reading the book in just two days.

If Not For You on their regular bookshelf hidden among other Debbie Macomber books I want to check out. Before you ask if this is the only book of Debbie Macomber I check out no, it wasn’t. I also Window On The Bay and The Best Is Yet To Come and I am so excited to read this novel. I would love to start a book club in my hometown. If you’re in DFW and like to read come and join me.

This week Charlie asked me where he could find children’s books on Wrestling which I wasn’t sure where they would be. I told Charlie to ask at the information desk. I waited with Charlie while he talked to the librarian. The librarian helped Charlie find the books he wanted. Once they were done Charlie even had books he wanted to read to check out for our Homeschool Reading Class.

As I was checking out the Librarian let me know they had If Not For You in a audio books , I could have checked out but I prefer reading a physical copy of a book than listening to a audio copy of the book.  Which do you prefer a physical book or a audio and why? How about a PDF copy or reading a book on a Tablet or Kindle which I also don’t care for.

David, Charlie and I came home I sat down to read the first chapter of If Not For You only  I had trouble stopping at chapter one. Before I knew what was happening I was half-way through the book and didn’t want to put it down. As soon as I got up the next morning I began reading the book again and was finished by noon. Which Charlie and David couldn’t believe because there is over 300 pages.

 If Not For You

tells the story of a couple set up on a blind date which doesn’t work out. They leave their friends’ home in sperate cars after the disastrous date. There is a wreck and Beth is hurt. Sam comforts her as they wait for the ambulance. Sam follows her to the hospital her Aunt Sunshine arrives and he leaves.

Sam does come back to visit, and they become friends and through the story you get to know what kind of man Sam is. Beth is afraid for her mom to meet him because of his hair and tattoo’s. Beth does stand up to her mom and let’s her know to stay out of her life and she is going to keep seeing Sam.

Through circumstances beyond their control, they do break up a couple times. Through it all Beth and her mom reconcile, and she learns how much her dad loves her. Beth tries to help both Sunshine and Sam out which leads to Sunshine being hurt and losing Sam. But in the end everything works out. Although there is still a story inside the story that I wish had been answered and I will not tell you what it is as I think you should purchase your own copy of If Not For You asap.

Now, I have a tidbit I would like to share with you as I didn’t know this about If Not For You until I sat down to read the book which is started it I the third in the book in the New Beginnings Series. The other two books inside this series are A Girls Guide To Moving On and Last One Home. which I will check out the next time we visit the library.

If you haven’t read the first two books I mentioned and would like to start with If Not For You this can done because these boos are not only part of a series but make a great standalone read. Which is nice because if you can’t find one of the books in the series you can just read another and go back and read the one you couldn’t find later on.
