Texas Christkindl Market

I wanted to share an event I attended last year with Charlie and David in Arlington, Texas. Texas Christkindl Market. You might be asking yourself what is the Texas Christkindl Market here is a brief description of what it is.

Celebrated during the four weeks of advent in Europe, the Christkindl Market is a traditional Christmas market that originated in the middle ages in German-speaking Europe.

The relationship between Arlington and its sister city, Bad Königshofen, inspired Christkindl Market to commemorate its first magical season in 2011.

With several markets all over Europe for the holidays, Christkindl Market also works with its partner Christmas city, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, to bring the same unusual magic and feeling to Texas.

The Christkindl Angel depicted as a fairy-like being with blonde hair and angelic wings, dressed in gold and white, who brings gifts to children. Traditionally, the children are ushered out of the room on December 24th, and the angel arrives to decorate the tree and leave presents.

Arriving and departing quickly, the children never see her. In some traditions, the departure of the Christkindl Angel announced by the ringing of a small bell.

After the parents give the word that gifts have been left and the angel has departed, the family enters the living room, where the Christmas tree idecorated and presents opened.

With so much happening at  Christkindl Market I wanted to share with you a link that tells you everything that is happening. While there make sure you take the time to visit Santa Haus with St. Nick

No trip to the Christkindl Market would be complete without a visit to Saint Nicholas (Sankt Nikolaus or der Heilige Nikolaus), the patron saint of children, sailors, students, teachers, and merchants.

Legend has it that he brings children gifts on Dec. 6, guests can stop anytime throughout the market at the Santa Haus to meet St. Nick.

Cost: Anyone is invited to visit with St. Nick and receive free candy. No personal cameras are allowed. However, photo packages may be purchased onsite with packages starting at $19.95.

As for Charlie, I knew he would want to go on the Arctic Blast Tubing Run which is new this year. If they had it last year when Charlie and I attended Christkindl Market

I wouldn’t have been able to get Charlie off Arctic Blast Tubing Run. I bet Arctic Blast Tubing Run would have been Charlie’s favorite part of the market.

I also wanted to share another new part they have added to Christkindl Market which is Peppermint Park.
