Time 4 Learning

Charlie is in 2nd grade this year and since we had so much trouble last year with Charlie teacher. I wanted to make sure he was prepared for 2nd grade. So we have been using Time 4 Learning to help Charlie practice his math, science, language, and social studies. The only thing Time 4 Learning didn’t have that I wished they did was reading.

I am sure Charlie isn’t on the grade level he should be. I can lay the blame on Charlie’s teacher last year as she didn’t send books home. Although if the truth is none David and I are at fault as well as neither of us worked with Charlie this Summer. the way we should have. As school began Charlie began to bring books home I knew I would need to step it up. So I have been looking for books at the library and online to supplement the ones Charlie has been bringing home from school.

Then on Tuesday Charlie brought his binder home as I was going through it Charlie had a W1 in his binder when he came home. I had David ask Charlie’s teacher, Mrs. Badger, what a W1 was and why Charlie had gotten it. W1 means Charlie isn’t working fast enough and completing his work the way he should be. I asked Charlie what he was having trouble in and he said math. Since I knew I wasn’t good at math and neither is David I have had Charlie using Time 4 Learning each day after school and his teacher says she can see a difference.

I had Charlie start with grade one, to begin with as I wanted to give Charlie a refresher since he had been out of school for the Summer. Charlie was breezing through grade one so we moved up to level 2 andCharlie is doing great with it.  So next Friday we will move on to grade 3 and see how he does. So unlike a traditional school if you are homeschooling your child you can move them up or down grade levels when you use Time 4 Learning.

Charlie’s favorite part of Time 4 Learning is they make it fun by using videos with cartoon characters. Charlie loved the Science section and the one on the animals. Not only that he doesn’t mind doing the language lessons. I will continue to pay for Time 4 Learning long as I can as I know it is making a difference in Charlies grades in school.

Even when his friends are over Charlie doesn’t mind working on Time 4 Learning and his friends like watching and helping Charlie out as well. Aidans mom is thinking about ordering Time 4 Learning for him for Christmas as he struggles in school as well.

I showed Charlies teacher Mrs. BadgerTime 4 Learning and she was so impressed that she is going to talk to the principal about using Time 4 Learning in her classroom and also she is going to share it with the after school program the school runs. As they help students with there homework as well as do Tutoring for children who are struggling in math and reading.

I even showed Time 4 Learning to my mother n law and Alex who says when her daughter Payton is old enough they plan on getting Time 4 Learning for her to help her be ready for school. This way Payton will not struggle like Charlie is doing. Time 4 Learning will give my mother n law something to do with both Payton and Charlie.

All in all Time 4 Learning was a huge hit in my home as it allowed me to help my son and there is a forum for parents so we can ask questions and get help if we need it. I liked the Forum as it didn’t make me feel like I was out of place or the questions we asked were dumb.

David likes that on Time 4 Learning are printable worksheets we can take with us when we go on Vacation. Which will allow Charlie to continue learning when we aren’t at home and we don’t have a computer to bring with us. If I am watching other children we can print out extra worksheets they can work while Charlie does.

Knowing there is a way to search for activities makes it so much easier to plan our day. As I can sit down and search for the things I want Charlie to do. Then when Charlie gets up David all David has to do is search for the assignments I picked out for Charlie to complete and they do not bother me. Which allows me to get my work done so to me that was my favorite part.

I also like knowing there are assessments as these show you the progress our children is or isn’t making so we know to keep working on that level or to move them up.

New to Homeschooling?

  • Parents turn to homeschooling for different reasons, but all parents want the same thing: what’s best for their children. Homeschooling allows parents to take control of their child’s education and truly assess their child’s individual needs.
  • One of the biggest benefits of homeschooling is the flexibility it offers. Through personalized, one-on-one instruction and student-paced learning, children are able to build academic confidence.
  • Research by National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) suggests that the focused approach afforded with homeschooling is resulting in higher reading, math, and history test scores compared to traditionally schooled students.
