National Teacher Appreciation Week is a week-long celebration of teachers in the United States. Teacher appreciation week is held in the first full week of May, from May 7 through May 13 in 2023. Teacher appreciation week is a time to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of teachers, who play a vital role in the education of our children.
There are many ways to show your appreciation for teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week. Before you ask does this include homeschool teachers as well I like to think so. Just print you out a badge stating you home and visit places like Whataburger who is celebrating teacher this week.
You can:
- Have the students write a thank-you note or card to their teacher. I know their mom but also the teacher and you deserve to be thanked for what you do.
- They can bring a small gift, including Flowers, Chocolates, or a Coffee gift card.
- Volunteer in your child’s classroom and before you say but I am the teacher you can still volunteer and do something new in the classroom today.
- Attend a school event or fundraiser which can be done with Homeschoolers by thinking outside the box.
- Donate to a teacher’s classroom supplies fund because just like public school teachers homeschool teachers need supplies and spend their own money on them.
- Have the students tell you or any teachers they have how much they appreciate them.
No matter how you choose to show your appreciation, teachers will be grateful for your support. Teachers are the ones who make a difference in the lives of our children, and they deserve our thanks.
Here are some additional ways to show your appreciation for teachers:
- Host a teacher appreciation event at your school.
- Donate to a teacher’s professional development fund and for Homeschoolers set one up for your school to cover field trips and extra curricular classes or sports your student wants to take.
- Volunteer to help with classroom projects or activities.
- Share positive stories about teachers on social media which can be about teachers you had as a child.
- Vote for policies that support teachers and public education.
Teachers are essential to our society, and they deserve our respect and gratitude. Let’s show them how much we appreciate them not only National Teacher Appreciation Week but year long.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
