August 22 National Pecan Torte Day #NationalPecanTorteDay

Food Holidays

Pecan Pie and today is y August 22 National Pecan Torte Day #NationalPecanTorteDay. I don’t know if David has ever had a pecan Torte which Charlie and I haven’t had. Have you? Is a Torte like a Pie or something different?

I found a recipe for a Pecan Torte online and was thinking about picking up Pecans at my Local Farmers Market and making a Pecan Torte for David. If Charlie has still been #Homeschooling we could have made the Pecan Torte in his cooking class and made a different Torte for David’s Dad who can’t have Pecans.

Here is a recipe for you if you would like to make a Pecan Torte for your family and friends. If you do not like Pecans what flavor of Torte would you like to have and why?

Recipe for Pecan Torte

Ingredients (Serves 6)

  • 1 cup pecans
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup honey
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pecans and salt.
  3. Whisk in the honey, eggs, and vanilla until well blended.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch springform pan.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool, then slice and serve!

I can’t wait to let my sister Debbie know This torte is naturally gluten-free and has a lovely nutty sweetness thanks to the honey and pecans because she is on a Gluten-Free diet now. If you want to dress the Torte up try serving it with whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate glaze.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
