Paw Prints Publishing, the children’s publishing imprint of premier worldwide distributor of books, digital content, and entertainment products Baker & Taylor, will begin publishing books based on the PBS KIDS animated television series Lyla in the Loop in Spring 2026, it was announced by Amandeep Kochar, Group President and CEO.

Lyla in the Loop, created by Dave Peth, centers on Lyla Loops (a 7-year-old Black girl), her fantastical blue sidekick Stu, and the rest of the Loops family who run their diner, Loops Lunch. Lyla’s adventures explore foundational strategic problem-solving and computational thinking concepts as they help others in their community, while creating a few comedic mishaps along the way when their creative solutions don’t go exactly as planned.

The show premiered on February 5, 2024 and is currently airing nationally on PBS stations and streaming free across PBS KIDS digital platforms. The series is produced by Mighty Picnic and Pipeline Studios.

Lyla in the Loop has received several accolades, including being named one of Common Sense Media’s Best TV Series of 2024 for children ages 5-7. It also won a 2025 Excellence in Early Learning Digital Media Honors by the Association for Library Service to Children, which will be accepted by Dr. Jade Avelis, Mighty Picnic Director of Business Operations, at the 2025 ALA Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA.

Paw Prints Publishing brings original content to market for young readers ages 3 to 8 with the mission of sharing stories that inspire and enlighten children from all walks of life. “We are thrilled to be a home for book adaptations of Lyla in the Loop. The show has it all – humor, heart, and tons of practical and computational knowledge for young people.  My soon-to-be five-year-old adores the Loops, and we’ve spent a lot of time watching (and laughing at) the show as a family and discussing its episodes afterward. What resonates with us as a family is exactly what makes it an ideal content addition for Paw Prints Publishing – it’s wholesomeness, emphasis on representation, and kid-first sensibility is magical. We’re excited to translate that magic into storybooks and leveled books for emerging readers,” said Bobbie Bensur, Senior Director, Paw Prints Publishing.

Lyla in the Loop creator Dave Peth adds, “Paw Prints Publishing and Lyla in the Loop share a common goal – to inspire all kids to be creative, express themselves, and find their own ways to better the world around them. We’re so glad to work with the Paw Prints team to bring the stories to print for the first time.”

The publishing program will launch in Spring 2026 with four titles–two storybooks for emerging readers, one leveled reader, and one 5-minute story collection, all with back matter that includes discussion questions, activities, and an explanation of the concept or skill introduced in each story.
