DR. JOHN DIMOFF BIOGRAPHY
John D. Dimoff is an Assistant Professor of Graduate Psychology at Chatham University in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. He holds a joint Ph.D. in Clinical and Biological-Health Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his clinical internship at the VA Western New York Healthcare System.
John’s research focuses on the psychological aspects of health behaviors, including substance use and influenza vaccination; the application of theory and research from social psychology (e.g., shared reality theory) toward clinical, counseling, and health psychology topics; and training and education in health service psychology.
John has authored or co-authored papers in such journals as Addiction, American Psychologist, Clinical Psychological Science, Emotion, Health Psychology, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, PLoS ONE, Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, Psychological Science, and Social and Personality Psychology Compass.
John teaches a variety of courses across Chatham’s M.A., M.S., and Psy.D. programs, including Addictions Counseling, Advanced Data Analysis, Health Psychology Practice, Psychometrics, Statistics and Research Methods, and Social Psychology.
