The Mommies Reviews

I wanted to share a new children’s book you will find inside our Christmas Gift Guide 25: A Maker of Dresses by Violet Lemay, Michael Sampson (Author). I sat down this morning to read A Maker of Dresses which reminded me of Cinderella. I love how the words either have or are made with sewing supplies like the kk is a pair of scissors making the letters stand out.

I wish Suzie were here to see the pink dress the little girl is making because Suzzane would have loved the dress just as I do. Look at the Puppy isn’t he cute? he needs to stop stealing the material though so she can finish the dress.

I love how the Little Girl goes after her dream of making dresses by drawing them when she was little turning her into a entrepreneur. We learn she will have summer dress and Spring dresses I wish I could see and try on. How about you?

There are dresses for short people which is a Godsend for me because I’m only 4’9. What about you? The Little girls remind us of the days of the week which is a #tewachingmoment making A Maker of Dresses a great #Homeschool Resource.

Children could study fashion, practice sewing and drawing. My favorite day was Saturday when she is designing for Puppies which Charlie and David also liked learning about. There is even outfits for Cats. Sundays the shop is closed because its a fun day for her. Just like in our home when Sundays are #familyday.

All in all, A Maker of Dresses is the perfect book for little girls in upper elementary school, but boys may enjoy the illustrations. I could see #teachers using the book in a #HomeEconimics Class. Adults who enjoy sewing will also enjoy this book a lot.
