December 19 National Hard Candy Day #NationalHardCandyDay

Holidays

I sure wish my dad was here because today is December 19th which is National Hard Candy Day — the perfect excuse to indulge in sweet, colorful treats that have been delighting people for centuries! Did you know Hard candy has a long history, from traditional peppermint sticks and butterscotch drops to modern favorites like Jolly Ranchers and lollipops.

I plan on celebrating #NationalHardCandyDay in my dad’s memory by purchasing Ribbon Candy at the store this afternoon. Would you want a piece of the Candy with me? Then I’m going to watch the move The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with Dolly Parton and here her sing Hard Candy Christmas one of my favorite Christmas songs. Would you want to watch the movie with me?

Fun Ways to Celebrate

  • Treat yourself: Pick up a bag of your favorite hard candies or try a new hard candy new.
  • Share the sweetness: Fill a candy dish at home to spread cheer and take one to your neighbors.
  • DIY candy-making: Experiment with making your own hard candy at home — flavors like cinnamon, lemon, or cherry are classics.
  • Nostalgia trip: Revisit childhood favorites like rock candy I put in Charlie’s Christmas Stocking each year. Or Candy Canes which we put on our Christmas Tree but don’t forget Ribbon Candy.

Fun Candy Facts:

  • Hard candy is made by boiling sugar syrup to high temperatures until it solidifies.
  • Did you know Hard Candy is one of the oldest forms of Candy, dating back hundreds of years?
  • Popular varieties include fruit drops, peppermints, and clear lollipops.

I have a question for you. Would you want me to whip up a festive image to mark National Hard Candy Day? Maybe a colorful candy jar or a swirl of lollipops? If so leave me a comment and I will get to work on it.

Thank you.

Glenda,
