Ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (as needed)
- Optional: pastel sprinkles, crushed peppermint, mini chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Make the Mint Filling– In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, peppermint extract, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon milk. Stir until a soft dough forms. If too dry, add a tiny splash of milk. Kids can help knead and roll the dough.
2. Shape the Mint Centers– Roll the dough into small balls and flatten gently into discs. Place on a parchment-lined tray.
3. Melt the Chocolate- Melt chocolate chips and butter in the microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth. Adults handle the heating; kids can stir once cooled slightly.
4. Dip + Decorate– Dip each mint disc into the melted chocolate using a fork. Place back on parchment. Add sprinkles or crushed peppermint before the chocolate sets.
5. Chill + Enjoy– Refrigerate 10–15 minutes until firm. Store in an airtight container.
Tips for Little Bakers
- Add a drop of green food coloring to the mint filling.
- Use heart, flower, or star mini cookie cutters.
