I wanted to share a new children’s book with you Great Expectations: A BabyLit® Occupations Primer by Jennifer Adams (Author), Alison Oliver (Illustrator). I don’t know about you but when I heard Great Expectations: I thought of the Classic books we’ve all heard all of our lives. Then I saw the cover of the book and it reminded me of Halloween or losing someone we love because the man is hiding behind a Grave Stone. Doesn’t that sound scary?
The book is a hard back book but small and light enough for little children to hold. Each page only has one word on it and a illustration making this the perfect book for the littlest readers. The illustrations uses colors that will capture our eyes and the words will make us want to know what is happening in the picture.
My favorite picture was the lady that reminded me of a Bride and the Author said Heiress a lot of little children might not recognize turning this into a teaching moment. I like how the Author included a little girl named Estella in a pretty purple dress with a bow in her hair.
Charlie asked me to let you know he liked the picture of the gentleman at the back of the book which was the word the Author used to describe him. Charlie also liked his suit and top hat just as I did. If you haven’t had the chance to check out Great Expectations I hope you do as soon as possible.
If you have both older children and smaller children and your homeschooling your children you could use this book with additional lessons on Charles Dickens. This is a series of books and I hope you take the time to check out the rest of the series.
