January 1 National Bloody Mary Day #NationalBloodyMaryDay & January 1 National Hangover Day #NationalHangoverDay

Food Recipes

Welcome to a New Year as you can see, I’m already behind but that’s because we had to go pick Charlie up in Hobart, Oklahoma which is a good reason to be behind in the New Year. Now my family is all back together again, and this mama’s HEART is happy.

I wanted to let you know that on January 1st we celebrate the #Holiday for National Bloody Mary Day #NationalBloodyMaryDay and January 1st is also National Hangover Day #NationalHangoverDay. I’ve never had a Bloody Mary but if I had to many of them or any drink at all I would be nursing a Hangover the next day and celebrating National Hangover Day. I will pass on a drink at this time.

As for David after the day he had of driving back and forth to Oklahoma and the car messing up when we got home, he settled on a Beer but if we had the ingredients for a Bloody Mary, I would have made David a Bloody Mary while he watched TV last night. Before you ask no, I wouldn’t taste it because it has Tomato Juice in it.

If you’ve never made a Bloody Mary, I looked up the recipe which I’ve shared with you so we will know how to make a Bloody Mary in the future.

Bloody Mary

Here’s a bold, classic Bloody Mary you can mix up anytime, Glenda — perfect for brunch, parties, or those “I need something savory” mornings.

🍅 Classic Bloody Mary Recipe

(A balanced, flavorful version that’s not too spicy but easy to customize)

Ingredients

  • Vodka (2 oz)
  • Tomato juice (4–6 oz)
  • Fresh lemon juice (½ oz)
  • Worcestershire sauce (2–3 dashes)
  • Hot sauce (1–3 dashes, to taste)
  • Prepared horseradish (½–1 tsp)
  • Celery salt (pinch)
  • Black pepper (pinch)
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnishes: celery stalk, olives, lemon wedge, pickles, bacon, shrimp — go wild

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice
  • Add vodka, lemon juice, Worcestershire, hot sauce, horseradish, celery salt, and pepper
  • Top with tomato juice
  • Roll the drink between two glasses (don’t shake) to mix without watering it down
  • Taste and adjust spice or salt
  • Garnish generously and serve

Want to customize it?

I can help you make a spicy version, a Texas-style smoky version, or even a virgin Bloody Mary for kids or parties.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
