June 10 National Iced Tea Day #NationalIcedTeaDay

Beverages Food Holidays Recipes

June 10th was National Iced Tea Day #NationalIcedTeaDay and I must say National Iced Tea Day is a #Holiday that was created for my family. My grandparents always had a picture of Sweet Tea in there Ice Box anytime we visited.

As for my parents they kept Lipton’s Tea in our pantry so we could make a glass of Iced Tea or a picture of Tea anytime we wanted. Although my dad liked using Lipton’s Tea Bags to boil Tea to make a picture out of. It was Unsweet Tea for my dad.

I grew up and began to make Tea for my family I also used Lipton’s Tea Bags but then Suzzie was gone and I had to rebuild my life with David. David’s parents also used to make Tea for there Family so we also kept it in our Ice Box after we got married.

Fast forward and Charlie has grown up. The one thing that hasn’t changed is we always have Sweet Tea in our Ice Box but now we don’t make the Tea we purchase Milo’s Sweet Tea which David and Charlie drink with me.

Would you like to join us for a glass of Iced Tea this morning? Sweet or Unsweetened Tea because Milo makes both Teas. Although its so pretty outside I could make Sun Tea or I have Tea Bags and could make use a cup of Hot Tea with Milk and Sugar for me. What about you?

Another brand of Tea I love is HTea0 and they have Happy Hour from if you want to go with me to get a glass of Tea. I missed out last night because through the QT App I would have been able to get a free glass of Tea. If you don’t have the app and there is a QT near you then you should download the app because they always have specials and a lot of times drinks and Cookies are free.

Recipe for Sun Tea

Prep Time 5 mins Steep3 hours Total Time 3 hours 5 mins

Servings 6 to 8 servings Yield1 gallon

Ingredients: 4 to 8 regular tea bags

  1. Make the Tea: Put 4 to 8 Tea bags into a clean 2 quart or gallon glass container (4 teabags for a 2-quart container, 8 Tea bags for a gallon container). Fill with water and cap.
  2. Place in the Sun: Place outside where the Sunlight can strike the container for about 3 to 5 hours. Move the container if necessary to keep it in the Sun. When the Tea has reached its desired strength, remove it from the Sun and put it in the refrigerator. You may or may not want to remove the Tea bags at this point. I usually don’t.
  3. Store the Tea: The Tea will probably taste more mellow than what you are used to from using boiling Water. The slow steeping has a way of bringing out a slightly different flavor from the Tea. Also, because you didn’t use boiling Water, you should refrigerate the Tea and drink it up pretty quickly— in a day or two because Sun Tea will not keep as well as Iced Tea made from boiling Water.

Thank you,
