Man oh man I missed the bus on sharing a amazing #Holiday with you that fell on June 11th. Which was National German Chocolate Cake Day #GermanChocolateCakeDay. I don’t know about you but German Chocolate Cake is one of my favorite Cakes alongside Italian Cream and Hummingbird Cake.
As a child I remember my Grandmother Dorie standing over her stove making me a German Chocolate Cake for my Birthday. One time my mom and my Aunt Bobby tried to make the Cake for my because my Grandmother was sick. Let me tell you that was a mess.
Fast forward to David and my Wedding and we had a German Chocolate Cake prepared by his sister n law Lynn. The Cake was okay but I can still hear my dad asking where was the Nuts and I agree with my Dad it isn’t a German Chocolate Cake without Nuts.
I’ve purchased a lot of German Chocolate Cakes but none of them taste like my Grandmother’s I swear her and my Uncle Chuck cooked the Coconut and no, one does that today. I hate uncooked Coconut. Do you like Coconut in Cakes cooked or not and why?
I found Bakers German Chocolate Bar my grandmother used in her German Chocolate Cake but I don’t know if the recipe for the German Chocolate Cake is on the back of the box or not. I went online and found the recipe for Baker’s Original German Sweet Chocolate Cake along with the Pecan Icing. Would you want to join me this evening and we can make a German Chocolate Cake for dessert?
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
