Makre sure you come and celebrate ever year on May 28th, with us as we celebrate National Hamburger Day celebrating America’s most iconic food. Did you know Americans eat over 50 billion Hamurgers a year?

It’s only fitting we set aside a whole day Hamburgers isn’t it? Hamburgers originated in Hamburg, Germany, but the Hamburger as we know it was developed in Seymour, Wisconsin, a town still famous for its Hamburger escapades.

The Hamburger is a Baked Bun, Beef Patty, Mustard, Ketchup, Or May for me Onion, Pickles, and Tomatoes for some with or without Cheese. Convenient, cheap, and delicious, the world-famous Hamburger has a storied and uncertain history. No one is quite sure about the origins of the Hamburger, other than that it is eponymously named for the town of Hamburg in Germany.

People have been eating cooked Meat on Bread for centuries, but the association with Hamburg seems to stem from a 1758 recipe for a dish called the “Hamburg Sausage.” Others think the name originates from a cruise company known as the Hamburg America Line, which served its passengers similar Sandwiches in the Mid-1800s. To this day, there is little agreement over who actually created Hamburgers.

Numerous Deli and Diner owners across the United States claim that their joint is responsible for inventing the Hamburger. However, there seems to be some consensus amongst historians that the food as we know it today truly gained popularity at the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, an event that also gave us the Ice-Cream Cone.

However it happened, the Hamburger has grown to be one of the world’s most widely consumed food items, found on menus from Texas to Thailand. Hamburgers can be had for a dollar apiece or made from gourmet ingredients that cost hundreds. However you decide to chow down, National Hamburger Day is for you. Fire up the grill, gather round your friends, and cook up Hamburgers.

The Hamburger is a juicy Beef Patty cooked to perfection, topped with your favorite add-ons and condiments, and wedged in a lightly toasted hamburger Bun. And don’t forget the Fries as a sideline. Or Onion Rings or Tator Tots.

Grills are fired up, and family and friends gather for a barbecue cookout. Burger lovers all pitch in their tried-and-tested methods for making the ‘best Hamburger’ and eat to their heart’s content. Remember when cooking outside calories don’t count. Or do they?

The highlight of the day is the Hamburger, so pretty much every eatery participates in putting forward their best Hamburgers and offering great deals. Food marketing goes into overdrive as iconic burger franchises offer special Hamburger editions for the holiday and bring back limited editions of great deals from the past.

Many people get out of their comfort zone and try different Hamburgers. There are so many types available to choose from including Chicken Hamburgers, Buffalo Burgers, Veggie Burgers, and the latest in recent years, the ‘Impossible Burger’ with a Patty that isn’t made from Meat at all!

Remember some of our best memories have been shared over Hamburger meals including a first date, coupons and rewards at work by the boss, and discovering different Sauces and Spice blends for the perfect Hamburger. These traditions are revisited or continued on National Hamburger Day.

Recipe for Bacon Stuffed Hamburgers with Cheese

Cuisinart 3-in-1 Stuffed Burger Press, Non-Stick Burger Stuffer Hamburger Patty Maker, Patty Maker Grill Accessory for Outdoor Cooking, BBQ, Tailgates, Camping

Prep Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins Total Time: 35 mins Servings: 6 Yield: 6 burgers

Ingredients

3 pounds ground beef

3 tablespoons barbecue sauce

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

½ pound bacon, cut into 1/4 inch pieces

1 medium onion, finely chopped

¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

6 Hamburger Buns, split

Directions

Grill stuffed patties until beef is no longer pink in the center, about 4 to 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Serve on hamburger buns with condiments of your choice.

Mix ground beef, barbecue sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt in a large mixing bowl, using your hands. Shape a small handful at a time (approximately 1/4 pound) into 12 thin patties. Lay patties out on a cookie sheet and cover with plastic wrap; place patties in the refrigerator.

Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 5 minutes. Remove bacon from skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Reduce the heat to medium and cook onions in remaining bacon drippings until soft and just beginning to brown. Mix onions and bacon in a small bowl.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.

Meanwhile, remove beef patties from the refrigerator; top 6 patties with 1- 1/2 tablespoons of bacon and onion mixture, and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Top each with one of the remaining patties and press the edges together to seal.
