I enjoy being able to spoil those I love and one of those ways is sharing food #holidays and making the food being celebrated on that holiday. I can’t wait to let David know its November 14 National Pickle Day #NationalPickleDay because Suzzanr and David both love Pickles.
My mom liked Butter Pickles which I don’t care for. How about you. Do you like Pickles and if so which Pickles and why? Is there a certain brand of Pickles you prefer? I grew up with Best Maid Pickles and there is even a Pickle Musuem in Fort Worth if your close to yoo should visit.
November 14th is also National Spicy Guacamole Day #SpicyGuacamoleDay. I don’t care for Guacamole of any kind and nether does David. As for Charlie he changes his mind all the time on what he likes or doesn’t like so don’t ask me if he would want to celebrate Spicy Guacamole Day or not.
As for Granny Sherry she loves Guacamole and always has Avocado’s in her home. Like Charlie she also loves spicy foods so I thought Granny Sherry might want to celebrate Spciy Guacamole Day and I was thinking I could make the Guacamole and surprise her as a belated Birthday present. Would you want me to make you some Spicy Guacamole?
Recipe for Spicy Guacamole
I know for a lot of people Spicy Guaco mole sounds delicious! If you’re thinking of making spicy guacamole, here’s a simple recipe idea to kick it up a notch:
Ingredients:
3 ripe avocados
1 lime (juice)
1–2 jalapeños (finely chopped, seeds removed for less heat)
1 small red onion (finely diced)
1–2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 medium tomato (diced)
Fresh cilantro (chopped, about ¼ cup)
Salt (to taste)
Optional: a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce for extra fire
Instructions:
Mash avocados in a bowl until smooth but still a little chunky.
Stir in lime juice, jalapeños, onion, garlic, tomato, and cilantro.
Season with salt and (optional) cayenne or hot sauce.
Taste and adjust heat level to your liking.
For a smoky twist, try adding a bit of chipotle pepper in adobo sauce.
If you would you like me to suggest some creative pairings for spicy guacamole—like what to serve it with beyond tortilla chips? Leave me a comment and I will get to work on what you want.
Thank you,
Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
