I wish I had known October 15th was National Mushroom Day because I would have either fixed Fried Mushrooms for David or taken David out to dinner because he loves Mushrooms and hardly ever gets Mushrooms even though were always going out to eat.
Even though I’m a day late let’s celebrate National Mushroom Day – every year on October 15 with our friends and family that love #Mushrooms. Count me and Charlie out on eating Mushrooms but we will join you in celebrating.

Here’s a delicious recipe for crispy fried mushrooms paired with creamy ranch dressing — perfect for snacking, parties, or as a savory appetizer!
Crispy Fried Mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh mushrooms (button or cremini work best)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prep the mushrooms: Clean and slice mushrooms into thick pieces.
- Season the flour: Mix flour with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the mushrooms:
- Dredge slices in seasoned flour.
- Dip into beaten eggs.
- Coat with breadcrumbs.
- Fry: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in batches until golden brown (about 2–3 minutes per side).
- Drain: Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Homemade Ranch Dressing
Ingredients:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup buttermilk (adjust for desired consistency)
- 1 tsp dried dill
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Mix: Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld.
