My family is so excited because October 7 is Cinnamon Roll Day which David loves. If David wasn’t fighting a toothache I would make Ol Fashion Cinnamon Rolls for dessert this evening. I will have to pass on Cinnamon Rolls because there not on my diet although I did have one Cinni Mini from Burger King last night and they were so good.

Here’s a classic recipe for Ol Fashion Cinnamon Rolls that’s perfect for cozy mornings or holiday brunches

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 envelope active dry yeast (0.25 oz)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs

Filling:

  • 6 tbsp melted butter
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 1¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp light corn syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough:
    • Combine 2¼ cups flour and yeast in a large bowl.
    • Heat milk, butter, sugar, and salt until warm (110–115°F).
    • Add milk mixture and eggs to flour mixture. Beat on low for 30 seconds, then high for 3 minutes.
    • Stir in remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead & Rise:
    • Knead dough on a floured surface for 3–5 minutes until smooth.
    • Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  3. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down dough and divide in half. Roll each half into a 12×8-inch rectangle.
    • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
    • Roll up tightly and slice into 12 rolls per half.
  4. Second Rise:
    • Place rolls in greased pans. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled (30 minutes).
  5. Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Glaze:
    • Mix powdered sugar, corn syrup, vanilla, and cream until drizzling consistency.
