October 5 National Apple Betty Day #AppleBettyDay

Food Holidays Recipes

When Charlie was #Hoeschooling one of Charlies classes was cooking dinner one day a week. That is why I love sharing these #Holidays with my son because it introduces us to new foods. Like October 5th which was Apple Betty Day.

Apple Betty is a dessert I hadn’t heard of before. Had you? If you’ve tried Apple Betty, what did you think of the dessert and why? With me feeling better if I can get caught up on my work and helping Charlie today with his job applications, I may make a Apple Betty for us and my father n law. Would you want one as well?

We wanted to let you know National Apple Betty Day – October 5 is a cozy celebration of one of America’s classic desserts: the Apple Betty! Apple Betty is an old-fashioned treat that layers sweetened, spiced Apples with a buttery crumb topping, baked until golden and bubbling. Think of Apple Betty as the humble cousin of Apple Crisp—simple, warm, and nostalgic.

What Is Apple Betty?

  • A baked dessert made with sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and a crumbly topping (often breadcrumbs or flour, butter, and sugar).
  • Brown Betty is traditionally served warm, sometimes with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  • Brown Betty originated in colonial America and has remained a comfort food staple.

How to Celebrate #AppleBettyDay

  • Bake your own Apple Betty: Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for a perfect balance of tart and sweet. I’ve included a recipe below for you to use.
  • Host a fall dessert party: Pair Apple Betty with cider or mulled wine.
  • Share the love: Post your creation with the hashtag #AppleBettyDay to join the celebration online.
