Children's Book Reviews Cookbooks Recipes

I wanted to share a children’s cookbook I received called Priya’s Kitchen Adventures A Cookbook For Kids by Priya Krishna (Author) of Indian-Ish. I received a copy of the book in exchange for this review. Inside this post is my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage off the items you purchase.

Charlie and I can use this new cookbook to prepare a unique recipe for #Easter dinner this Sunday. Charlie and I loved the cover of the book with the young girl standing on a suitcase. The yellow background makes the food on the cover pop.

I like how the  Priya Krishna (Author) reminds us no, matter how good of a cook we are we can make these recipes.. I wish I had remembered this Cookbook when Charlie was still Homeschooling but it’s okay because no, matter what is happening in our lives Charlie still needs to know how to cook.

When you open the cookbook Priya Krishna (Author) reminds us we can travel the world from our kitchen. Iin the world we live in that would be much safer than traveling. Charlie loves how Priya Krishna (Author) reminds us we can slurp Ramen in Japan and it isn’t bad manners. Raman is one of Charlie and David’s favorite meals. Before you ask if I like Ramon I don’t. Do you?

Charlie thought it was neat to find out that before the Author was a food writer she was a kid traveler. Her mom worked in Air Travel. Would that be a fun career? The Author shares recipes from Greece, Mexico, France, China, Egypt, Italy, Moracco, England, India, Japan and Puru. If we cook meals from all these Countries we will be well traveled as well.

Each recipes come with fun illustrations and step-by-step photos with the recipes included. My family liked finding out there is a map in the book. Which allows us to see the places the recipes come from. Charlie and I enjoyed the introduction and learning about the  Priya Krishna (Author) and her family. Here is a fun fact for you they live in The Dallas, Texas we’re neighbors.

I love how the Author gives us advice on how to get started cooking for children that haven’t been in a kitchen or even adults. Along with ways to cut the Vegetables safely. Charlie and David didn’t know a lot of the terms or how to cut the Vegetables used in the recipes but know they do. Before you ask yes, I even learned new ways to cut Vegetables. I bet you will as well

My family is going to start in Greece because this is David’s favorite food. David even lived in Greece for 3 years as a child. Then my family is going to move on to Mexico which is my favorite Cuisine. What about you. Do you like Mexican food?

Charlie and I decided in the Mexican food section were going to make Tostadas and Quesadillas my family loves. How about you? Grab your suitcase were off to France when we try to make Crepes. I will pass on for Mousse Au Chocolate. Would you like some?

Next we are off to China because David and his mother love Chinese food and would eat it ever day if they could. Charlie and I will start with Fried Rice. Would you like Fried Rice with them because Charlie and I aren’t sure we want to try Fried Rice.

Charlie said hop on our next stop is Egypt and don’t forget to sightsee while your there by decorating your home to look like Egypt. The kids can draw things they would see in Egypt and find facts to share with you.

Italy is our next stop. Are you ready because this is Charlie’s favorite stop. We’ve decided to make Ravioli for dinner. Doesn’t that sound yummy? All aboard to Morocco then off to head to England where we can host a Tea Party.

Your welcome to join my family in making Tea Sandwiches and Scones. We can watch Alice in Wonderland. Once you’ve finished your Tea and Sandwiches it’s off to India. Are you tired of traveling yet? Charlie and I aren’t and even David is coming with us this time.

Next stop is Japan. Anyone for Miso Ramen? If your don’t want to explore Japan let’s head to Peru. Then it’s off to Trinidad & Tobago. Thats the end of our trip. Before you take off  Priya Krishna (Author) said we need to design our passports which would be a fun family arts project. TI the back of the cookbook make sure you take time to color the page she left for us.

About the book:

From the beloved New York Times bestselling author of Indian-ish and Cooking at Home, an illustrated cookbook for kids and their parents that draws on Priya’s childhood experiences traveling the globe with her family. With delicious recipes and laugh-out-loud stories, Priya’s Kitchen Adventures will get kids cooking and expand their curiosity about the world.

Climbing the Great Wall of China, camping in the Amazon jungle, sliding down the dunes of the Sahara Desert—oh, and did she mention slurping ramen in Japan, sipping aguas frescas in Mexico, and enjoying British high tea? Before Priya Krishna was a celebrated food writer, she was a kid traveler. Thanks to her appetite for exploration (and a mom who worked in air travel), by the time she was a teenager she had done all this and more. Traveling unlocked Priya’s sense of discovery and inspired her to get cooking.

In this bright and kid-friendly cookbook, kids can travel the world with Priya—no passport required, just an open mind and a kitchen. Through her eyes, kids and their parents can see—and taste!—China, Greece, Peru, Mexico, Morocco, England, Italy, Japan, France, Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago, and India. The whole family will love making and tasting each kid-tested recipe—brought to life with vivid photos and colorful illustrations plus step-by-step how-to photos—and sharing Priya’s dynamic and often hilarious tales of adventure. They’ll come to discover what Priya was lucky to learn as a kid: that cooking is one of our greatest superpowers, allowing us to travel in our own kitchens and learn about incredible places and cultures—without the jet lag.
