Experiencing joy in life is not exclusive to holidays, or special events. Joy is something you can purposefully weave into your everyday life – sometimes with little changes, sometimes with bigger, more purposeful shifts.
Here are six exciting ways you can fill your cup, reset and find more joy, and perhaps even euphoria, in your day to day:
- Reimagine Your 9 To 5
Perhaps you have always dreamed of making your own wine – so now is the time to look at used vineyard machinery and grape harvesters for sale, taking the first steps to an exciting new life that is meaningful to you.
Or maybe for you, it is a smaller step, asking for more creative projects at work, or pursuing new learning opportunities within the company. Maybe freshening up your home office would be transformative for your working day to day. Regardless, your workday should lift you, not deplete you.
- Disconnect For A Reset
Reclaim your headspace across the day by disconnecting. This means that you don’t answer phone calls, you don’t check your email on the laptop, you don’t binge a show. Instead, you consciously choose to do something else. Read a book, take a walk, chat to your kids or your partner – something you can give all your attention to for valuable, wholesome, meaningful time.
- Curate A Beautiful Morning Routine
The first part of any day sets the tone for nearly everything else that follows, so be careful how you spend it. Studies show that checking social media first thing sets our brain up for stress, spiking your dopamine and causing you to crave more social media exposure throughout the day.
Instead, try opening your eyes and taking a few minutes to breathe, look outside at some nature and enjoy a delicious coffee or smoothie. Take that first half hour for you and your peace – make it a worthy anchor for the rest of the day.
- Upgrade The Ordinary
Sometimes it really is the little things that bring us the most pleasure. Instead of dinner in front of the TV, dinner at the table with a candle and your favorite album playing? Joy often comes from tiny, tangible details.
- Say Yes To Adventure
Adventure doesn’t have to be an expensive trip across the world. In fact, science tells us that our brains react very positively to any new experience. Our brains crave novelty! So even a different route taken to work, a new takeaway restaurant, a day trip to a new city – it all counts as adventure to your brain! Spark that curiosity – you’ll be surprised at how transformative it can be.
- Make Space To Do What You Love The Most
Sometimes real life gets in the way of what life is really about. Often, we forget the fact that we should make time for our own joy. For that reason you must carve out time to do the things you love, whether that is reading, surfing, gardening, painting – it’s your time to feed your soul. Schedule this time like it matters just as much as a work commitment or other important event – because it does matter just as much.
It’s Time To Fill Your Cup
Joy can be quiet, or loud, easy or difficult to attain. It can take sacrifice, or it might be as easy as the smallest change. Regardless, it’s all worth your attention and your time. You get one life, and you owe it to yourself to fill every moment with intention and meaning. It’s time to pour generously.
