I’ve always loved visiting #FoodTruckParks. If your #Homeschoolling your children why not take them on a #FieldTrip to a Food Truck Park and bring The Tuttle Twins and the Food Truck Fiasco with you to read with your children/ students.
The twins are running a Lemonade Stand. Would you like a glass because I will pass but I know David and his mom would take a glass or two. Charlie might as well. There friend Amy stops by in Amy’s Crazy Pizza Truck. I don’t know about you but I’m hungry and wouldn’t mind having a slice of Pizza. What about you?
The kids look inside the Food Truck while Amy explains how things worked. I don’t know about you but I can tell you David would have liked Amy’s Maccaroni and Hot Dog Pizza. Would you want to try it out?
Amy lets the kids know she is going to set up at the Game on the weekend because she can take her business anywhere. I wish I could as well because I could get more clients. I need a Food Truck but not for Food but for advertising.
At the game was a lot of Food Trucks for there family to choose lunch from. While waiting in line at Amy’s Food Truck they notice a for sale sign on the truck. She lets the kids know she isn’t making enough money to keep the truck. That stinks doesn’t it?
We learn what the word “profitable” means. Then they discuss rules al the Food Trucks has to follow and why it made it hard for Amy to keep her truck. We lean a restaurant owner was a friend with the Mayor and we learn about “protectionism”. A #teachingmoment” for my family.
A Policemen stops by and lets all the Food Truck owners know they have to leave after the game and never return. That doesn’t seem fair does it? There was a new law that had been made the Policeman was enforcing. To find out what the law was your going to need to read The Tuttle Twins and the Food Truck Fiasco.
Next we learn about “capital”. Do you know what that is? How about “competition”? The kids learn about a City Council and for a #FIeldTrip you could take your children to visit the City Council in your City. The Tuttle Twins decide to see if they can change the Laws. Do you think they were able to?
There dad helped them make a plan and one part of the plan was to educate people which we all need to be educated on things a lot of times. The Tuttle Twins come up with “Food Truck Freedom”. We learn about a #protest” another teaching moment. See if you can find a safe “protest” in your area to check out.
The Tuttle Twins and Food Trucks set up at the big game. Amy reminds the reporters having Food Trucks and being able to choose what they want is “Freedom’. I agree. Don’t you? The Twins remind the reporters the Food Trucks where breaking a law and shows it to the reporters.
The restaurant owner near the Stadium Bob shows up and threatens to call the Police after yelling at the Twins. Instead he goes into his restaurant. What do you think will happen next? I’m not going to tell you. Your going to need to pick up a copy of The Tuttle Twins and the Food Truck Fiasco to find out.
Now its time for the City Council Meeting and people show up to support the Law. The Tuttle Twins even talk about there Lemoniid Stand and how they would be upset if they had to follow all the Laws Food Trucks had to follow.
Charlie learned what repeal means another #teachingmoment. Once you finish reading The Tuttle Twins and the Food Truck Fiasco check out the Activity Workbook and the discussion questions in the back of the book to keep the learning gong on. As well as the Glossary.
About the book:
Disruptive businesses often fight against their crony competitors and their allies in government. Ethan and Emily witness this firsthand with their food truck friends as they embark on a campaign to win public support and overturn the laws that shut them down.
Your children will learn how disruptive businesses sometimes must fight against their crony competitors—the ones with friends in government who implement laws to protect them from innovative upstarts.
