For our family we hadn’t heard of the Leviathan Crisis so this book was truly a #teachingmoment for our family. In the story we have the opportunity to visit a Comic Store with The Tuttle Twins. People was there for a new video game that had come out

This was a board game with quests so the Twins bought a deck of cards so they could build a team with there friends. I like how the game uses positive traits like a sword of truth and a shield of virtue. All of us should have.

After the quest the kids bought boost up packs. Emily’s pack had a special card in it. At times the game would get confusing but the kids kept playing which most likely Charlie and I would have quit. What about you?

The Twins finish the game and head home and see there dad getting ready to leave for work. He ask the Twins if they want to come because something is happening with the economy. They all get into the car to go.

We learn what a recession is and how it works. A ad comes on for someone running for office. There dad turns the ad off and reminds the Twins there all full of promise’s and we learn about ” demagogues”. A learning moment for my family.

They talk about a quote they know and the Trojan Horse. They get to the office and Ethan picks up a newspaper to read. We learn about “fearmongering”. After the meeting the Twins learn there dads company wasn’t “essential” enough to get a Stimulus check and he has to lay someone off.

The Twins tried to show there friends new ways to win the video game when they returned to the Comic Book Store but there friends wouldn’t listen and they kept losing.

The kids won the video game and write a letter to the newspaper outlining ways to help businesses out. Mr. Tuttle makes a newsletter to help people know better and be less afraid. Rebecca stops by and lets them know she found a new job. Be watching for a surprise in the end of The Tuttle Twins and the Leviathan Crisis.

Check out the Author and Illustrator in the back of the book. As well as a new book to share with your family. Along with a glossary of terms and discussion questions. Then check out the activity workbook for students.

About the book:

Why do politicians like it when we are afraid?

The Tuttle twins and their team of heroes tackle a new quest in an adventure game that they soon begin to realize is closer to reality than they might have guessed. A magical battle against the forces of Leviathan and its Idol turns out to be packed with lessons for what’s happening in the world around them.

Based on the book Crisis and Leviathan by Robert Higgs, this story finds the twins learning the power of truth in a world filled with fearmongering, ignorance, Trojan horses, and demagogues―a message with substantial relevance to our lives today.
