I wanted to bring you a new book this morning called Trespassers And Other Stories by Anine Greaney. Inside this post is my affiliate links if you click on the links and make a purchase I will make a small percentage off the products you purchase.

The story takes place in Coastal Massachusetts and from the cover of the book with the Lady standing on the Beach looking out at the Water with the Airplane taking off in the background I wish I was there. Would you want to take a Road Trip with me?

The Story contains contemporary Irish short fiction set in rural Ireland, greater Boston and Cape Cod making me want to travel to these Countries. Especially Ireland because my moms mom Dorie was Irish. I don’t know about you or your family but mines has gotten into situation in the past where we’ve felt really uncomfortable. I remember back in school when not only myself but David and Charlie through they were a misfit ad for me personally I never thought I could be my true self.

Life has changed that for Charlie, David and I and we know where we belong now. But having a copy of Trespassers And Other Stories Greaney has brought together a collection of previously published shorts highlighting such situations. Showing me others have felt the same way and as long as we don’t give up things will get better for everyone.

I liked how some of the stories are quite short more like just a scene because I was able to read the book throughout the day and finish it in one day.. A few of the stories might be considered a true short story. I can’t wait to share with my best friend and my sister.

All of the stories relate to an uncomfortable situation and at times made me uncomfortable which made me want to push through the book. At times a life changing decision had to be made just like when my daughter Suzzane was needing to be taken off Life Support.

Like in real life we learn at times the future is unknown and open and we shouldn’t give up no, matter what is happening in our lives. There is adult content in the book because some of the shorts deal with a sexual situation. At time these stories did make me uncomfortable but that shouldn’t stop you from reading Trespassers And Other Stories.

believe Trespasser and Other Stories should be on Oprah’s Must Read List. I your in a book club Trespassers and Other Stories would make for a lively discussion in a women’s group but I believe men can learn from this book as well. Women should share it with men on a date night.

About the book:

A woman travels from her Massachusetts home to her native Irish village to care for her estranged and sick father. Back in her childhood home, she comes face-to-face with previously unspoken losses.

A wealthy couple travels to Cape Cod to spend their 52nd Summer on the wife’s ancestral estate. On their private Beach above Nantucket Sound, the husband must confront the realities of their long marriage and its social-class tensions.

A widow agrees to sell her West-of-Ireland Farm to move to an in-law apartment attached to her daughter–and the daughter’s American family’s–Dublin house. In her new urban home, Grandma must confront the family’s abusive past and her adult daughter’s refusal to forgive or forget.

An Irish immigrant takes her American-born teen to a raucous Boston house party. At that party, the teenager discovers that her mother had lied about her child’s birth father–a lie that will permanently divide the mother and daughter.

As these 11 stories zig zag back and forth between Coastal Massachusetts and rural Ireland, “Trespassers” brims with each character’s attempt to reconcile past and present, place and displacement and loss and hope.
