Before we know it, the Holidays will be over so I thought I would come and share Holiday Happenings in Dallas/Fort Worth with you this evening. Before you ask me no, my family hasn’t been able to check out any of the events listed, but I hope to before they all shut down for the Season.

Holiday Happenings in Dallas/Fort Worth

You’ll find holiday festivities on every corner this time of year, but these top picks for family entertainment take you high above the Dallas skyline, around the Fort Worth Speedway oval track and more.

Reunion Tower

Holidays are merry and bright at Reunion Tower. Furry friends from the Dallas Zoo are spreading holiday cheer 470 feet in the air. The Animal Adventures team will showcase a mixture of mammals, birds, and reptiles for up-close experiences for guests of all ages to enjoy.

 Speedway Candy Cane Classic

The run will take place on Texas Motor Speedway’s famed 1.5-mile oval and the event will feature special Christmas activities, complimentary hot chocolate and a special holiday movie showing on “Big Hoss TV”, the world’s largest high-definition LED video board for all participants.

Speedway Candy Candy Classic 5K and Reindeer Dash is a run like no other. Celebrate the holiday season like never before as you start on Texas Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval and run through the Gift of Lights display.

Celebrate with complimentary hot chocolate, grilled cheese, and popcorn, and stay to watch the 1994 movie The Santa Clause on Big Hoss TV. Tune into a radio station from your car to listen to the film. Schools bringing a bus will need to provide their boombox to stream the movie audio.

All proceeds benefit children’s health initiatives through Speedway Children’s Charities and Cowtown CALF Program.

Gift of Lights is open at Texas Motor Speedway

From 6–10 pm nightly through Dec 30.

$25 per car; $5 off with unwrapped toy donation for Toys for Tots.

Take a trip back to a 1870’s Christmas and celebrate the old-fashioned way. Visitors are welcome to arrive at any time during the open hours and join in at their own pace.

Enjoy a tour of the historic Minor-Porter Log Cabin, make a corn husk doll or an ornament to take home to your own Christmas tree, enjoy carols, sip hot cider by the campfire, and more.

This event or venue can accommodate children with special needs.

Children of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in this event. Each craft activity staffed by volunteers who can guide children as they work. The trail to the house and the yard with the campfire and craft activities are wheelchair accessible; house interior is reached by climbing stairs.

 Christmas in the Square Special Event Night

Frisco Square

Experience Christmas in the Square

Frisco Square Property Owners Association, and in partnership with the City of Frisco and NBC5 presents the largest choreographed holiday lights and music show in North Texas. Christmas in the Square returns for its 14th year, full of established favorites and new surprises.

Christmas in the Square draws over 750,000 visitors annually. Families, friends and holiday guests from all over come and enjoy the spectacular show. The Holiday lights and music will run daily 6-10 PM November 23 – December 31, 2018. This show is free to the public.

Visitors may tune in to 107.3 FM on the radio in their vehicles or listen to the music piped through speakers as they take a walk through the Square. The light and music extravaganza are choreographed by Frisco’s own Jeff Trykoski (Illumimax, LLC). With over 175,000 lights, 11.5 miles of wiring and 8 miles of extension cords, Christmas in the Square is unlike anything you have ever seen.

Christmas in the Square Special Event Night includes the ever-favorite Parachuting Santa (5 pm only), four-lane inner tubing snow slide, carriage rides, trackless train, Skate the Square, light show, holiday treats, and of course Santa!

New this year will be a fun, interactive snow plays area and vendors offering holiday surprises. Many of the activities are free for all to enjoy.

Skate the Square (real outdoor ice rink) returns, and open daily through Jan 1. $10 per person per day, includes skate rentals.

Don’t miss Kids Who Care’s latest original work that teaches us that compassion was never lost, just hidden from view. It lives in angels that we dream of strangers who become angels in disguise, and even pop tart angels.

In support of this work, Angels of Hope, an art display featuring angels will be at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center on view Dec 2-28. Presented in partnership with Cook Children’s. VIP and group tickets are available.
