Ultimate Blog Challenge Day 8

Good morning, Happy Sunday to you and your family. I have a question for you that is part of this weeks prompt for the Ultimate Blog Challenge. If you own your own business do you take the weekends off? Or a certain day during the week? Or do you work certain hours and close at the end of that time.

Or are you like me and seem to be online 24/7 checking Social Sites, Blogging and answering emails? Or if you own a business doing something for it? Do you close it down when your out with your family or does your business follow you  around because mine seems to follow me around no, matter what I do.

When Charlie was born David and I had agreed Sunday’s would be Charlies day and we wouldn’t do anything but spend it with him. Then David started working on the weekends and had a day off during the week so we had to regroup and change our plans which was fine. As Charlie wasn’t in school then.

Also I had just started to blog and it hadn’t taken over my life the way it seems to know. Which I am not complaining about because it is my business and I can shut it down when ever I need to and pick it back up when I am ready. Like I did this week when I ended up sick. So now that Charlie is back in school David is off on Thursdays.

Now that David works on Sunday’s Charlie goes to Church with his friends and while he is gone I do a little bit of work. Once he is home if he wants to watch movies or go to the park I shut the computer down and spend time with him. If he is outside playing with friends I sit outside and watch him. If he goes to someones house I jump back on the computer and work until Charlie or David comes home. Then we spend the evening having dinner and watching a movie or playing a game together.

During the week I work from 5 am until 6 am then I get Charlie up for school. We walk before school then I drop Charlie off and I come home and work from 8 am until noon. At noon I take a break till 1. Then I work from 1 until 3:20 when I go pick up Charlie from school. I don’t get back on until 4:30 to 5 to just check incoming emails and I am off from 5 until 9 when Charlie goes to bed.

Then I jump back on and work from 9 pm until 11 pm when I grab my book and read till midnight. Then I get back up between 3 and 4 to see David off to work. Turn on the computer and start work or cat nap on the couch until 5. It just depends on how I feel when I wake up. Now, this schedule might not work for everyone but it is what works for us and I am happy with it.

So I would like to ask you to come and share your schedule with us. Once you do Please ReTweet this post for me by using #BlogBoost and also if you haven’t joined the Ultimate Blog Challenge there is still time to sign up and we would love to have you join us. Or if your in another challenge come share it with us as I am always looking for new events to join.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates

  1. The beauty of having a work from home business is time freedom. And that looks different for everyone. I think for a lot of it, including you and I, it means working in snippets from dawn until way past dark. But while we have kids in our homes (who still want to spend time with us), it’s amazing. My schedule looks much like yours minus the getting up in the middle of the night! Lol! I get up and get my kids to school, then work for 3-6 hours before I go pick up my youngest. I work while he decompresses in front of the TV for a couple shows, then I try to shut it all down and just be with him. This is also when I do alot of my home chores. I pick up my oldest after school, make dinner and take them to their activities, get them to bed, then get back at it until 11 or 12. Love that we can do this!

  2. Wow, you are one busy lady!
Having to deal with some of my own and parents health problems means my schedule changes frequently. It also depends on whether I am in work or not. I’ll be at Autism Plus for three days this week. When I have my exhibition I will have an entirely different schedule. I couldn’t do without my sleep though so midnight to 6.45 is the minimum ☺️

  3. I work a lot… But I enjoy it so much!

In my downtime, we have Family Night – Movie nights. For example, every Friday night we all order out (Pizza is a favorite) and watch a movie that has come in from Netflix (the old fashion DVD kind of movie – LOL).

On the weekend, honestly, I use it sometimes to catch up on some client work because I know that most people are not working and I can get some uninterrupted time in.

Of course, one month a quarter, when the Ultimate Blog Challenge is going on, I am busy every day with this 🙂 Again, it is work I love!

  4. I get tired just reading your schedule. I have an empty nest and don’t keep a regular schedule. My husband is home all the time, so I tend to write from the time the sun goes down until the wee small hours. I get the most done after Hubby goes to bed. Then I sleep late and work on networking in the morning until after I finish breakfast. I try to write between breakfast and 3 pm when I stop to have lunch while I watch an hour of TV. My schedule is flexible for housework, exercise, etc until the sun goes down again. Of course, we have so many medical appointment these days that those often interrupt my usual schedule.
