Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie, Texas

The other night David, Charlie and I were able to attend Media Night at Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie, Texas.

As we drove up Charlie reminded me we had been here before and I said yes. Do you want to go inside or go home. Charlie said no, mom I want to see the Lights. As we entered Charlie said mom. I’m glad its just you and me and dad. I’m sorry Jason and Lily couldn’t come but I like spending time with just us. For a mom whose son is turning 15 next month I melted on the spot.

We drove in and were checked in. As we begin driving I had fun hearing David and Charlie exclaiming over the displays that were set up. I asked Charlie to pick his favorite and he couldn’t because every few minutes he was changing his mind. Hearing Charlie laugh and be a child was a Godsend because with Covid he hasn’t been wanting to go outside to do anthing.

As we drove into Holiday Village and Charlie saw all the cars I thought he might change his mind about going inside but Charlie was the first one out of the car. We started to walk up and Charlie saw the Carnival Rides and the sign with the Hot Cheetos Corny Dog and Charlie went and got into line to get him and his dad a Hot Cheetos Corny Dog.

I stood in line with Charlie and got myself a Corny Dog and David Chocolate Covered Strawberries. As we walked away Charlie said before we leave can I have a Carmel Apple which surprised me. But as long as Charlie was going to eat I was fine with that because David got a Funnel Cake.

We walked inside the Holiday Village and I loved all the spaces they had to take photos at. There were Old Fashioned Carolers singing and I just wanted to stand and listen to them. I told David and Charlie to go on inside and I would be inside in a minute.

As I did I walked by a Fireplace and a Cabin that made me want to rent one for the Christmas Holidays. As I walked through the door I saw Santa. I talked David and Charlie into getting a picture with me which they usually wont do. Which is a Godsend to me as I didn’t have a updated Family Photo of us.

We sat down for a few minutes to people watch while Charlie and David finished eating. Waiting for them wasn’t the easiest because I wanted to walk though the Magical Walk-thru Forest and if they hadn’t hurried up I was going to leave them.

Finally they were ready. We walked inside and all I could hear was mom look here, no, here or did you see this or that. Before I knew it David had gone one way and Charlie another but it was fine because its a circle and we would all end up at the same place and I didn’t have to worry about any of us getting lost.

It was fun seeing the different displays and places to take photos. As we walked Charlie and I discussed what we saw including Flowers and Bells. On the way home Charlie said mom, I had the best time tonight and I want to visit here every year.

As we were leaving we walked by the Bumble Bee Ride which Charlie thought about riding but was afraid the heights would bother him. As we began to leave I let Charlie know its okay not to ride it because I understand being afraid of heights.

Then we came to the Merry Go Round and stood and watched it for a while discussing the Animals and Horses. I finally talked David and Charlie into riding the Merry Go Round with me which might be a once in a life time experience because Charlie says he is to old to ride rides which is fine with me because for this one night I had my little boy back again and I loved it and can never thank Prairie Lights enough for giving my family this once in a life time experience.
