Food Holidays: March 21st, 2022

Good morning, as we begin a new week, I wanted to share our series featuring Food Holidays: March 21st, 2022, with everyone. Today is National Crunchy Taco Day and before you ask if we are having Taco’s for dinner and no, we are not. I am Tacho’d out thanks to Charlie. But if you’re having Tacos, I might send David and Charlie over for dinner if it’s okay with you.

March 21st is National Crunchy Taco Day!

Five food finds about tacos:

The word Taco started in the 18th Century Silver Mines in Mexico.

Taco Bell has tried to enter the Mexican market twice, failing both times, even after branding their food “American” food.

In 1914, the first recipes for Tacos were put into an English cookbook.

A “Taquería” is a Spanish word meaning Taco Shop.

One of the first Taco Trucks is thought to have started in New York when in 1966 when two New York housewives operated an early version of the Taco Truck. Although the truck did not have a full kitchen, it was available for catering.

This is not for the soft hearted by any means. but today is for the rough, rugged and crunchy. That’s right folks. March 21st is National Crunchy Taco Day. The most talked about event since the reveal of Michaelangelo’s “David” Sculpture.

NATIONAL CRUNCHY TACO DAY ACTIVITIES

  1. What better way to celebrate today than inviting your friends over for a night of Tacos? Ask your friends to break out their family recipes. Dice up Tomatoes, open your cans of Refried Beans, and have an amazing dinner.
  2. As you’ve suspected, this Holiday is the equivalent of Christmas Eve. Celebrate by gifting a pair of Crunchy Tacos to your friends.
  3. Take this opportunity to explore new restaurants for the first time and have fun with Crispy Tacos.

WHY WE LOVE NATIONAL CRUNCHY TACO DAY

  1. According to recent studies, Tacos contain 21% Protein, 24% Carbs and 12% Fat, versus a Fiber Bar’s 15% of Protein, 7% of Carbs and 18% of Fat.
  2. We live in a world full of Tortilla-based foods like Quesadillas, Burritos, Tortilla Soup, and Enchiladas. What about the deliciously-crafted-crunchy-shell Tacos? It is time to give credit, where credit is due. After all, if St. Valentine got his own Holiday, there should definitely be at least 24 hours for Crunchy Tacos.
  3. Let me paint a picture for you. Imagine a fresh batch of Cheesy, Meaty, Sour Cream, Guacamole-y, Crunchy Tacos with a variety of Salsas on the side.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
