Food Holidays To Celebrate on Febuary 2, 2026

The Mommies Reviews

I spent time this morning looking through #Holidays that are celebrated today. I found three that are celebrating different types of food. The holidays are February 2 Crepe Day #CrepeDay, February 2 National Heavenly Hash Day #NationalHeavenlyHashDay and February 2 National Tater Tot Day #NationalTaterTotDay.

I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t sure what Heavenly Hash was, so this was a #teachingmoment for my family as I looked up what Heavenly Hash is. Here is what I found out: As for Crepes they aren’t something Charlie and I eat although David does. I’ve included a kid-friendly recipe you can make.

February 2nd is also National Tater Tot Day, and this is one food I would be happy to celebrate every day. How about you? If your #Homeschooling your children, you can have the study Potato’s and make Homemade Tater Tots and I’ve included a kid-friendly recipe for you.

Heavenly Hash is a classic American no-bake dessert, often enjoyed during holidays. It typically consists of:

  • Whipped topping or pudding, which provides a light, fluffy base.
  • Canned fruits like pineapple or mandarin oranges, which add sweetness and flavor.
  • Miniature marshmallows, which contribute a chewy texture.
  • Nuts such as pecans or walnuts, which add crunch and texture.
  • Chocolate Shavings or Cocoa Powder giving the recipe a rich taste.

This dish is versatile and the recipe can be customized with different ingredients, making Heavenly Hash a favorite at family parties and during the Holidays.

Kid‑Friendly Crepes Recipe– Soft, Easy, and Perfect for Breakfast or Snacks

Ingredients

For the crepes:

  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (plus a little extra for the pan)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Kid‑friendly filling ideas:

  • Fresh berries
  • Sliced bananas
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream
  • Peanut butter or Nutella
  • Yogurt and honey
  • Sprinkles for fun

Instructions

1. Mix the Batter

  • In a bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Add the flour and whisk until smooth.
  • Let the batter rest 10 minutes — this helps the crepes turn soft and flexible.

2. Heat the Pan

  • Warm a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  • Lightly butter the surface.

3. Cook the Crepes

  • Pour about ¼ cup of batter into the pan.
  • Tilt the pan so the batter spreads into a thin circle.
  • Cook 1–2 minutes until the edges lift slightly.
  • Flip gently and cook another 30 seconds.

4. Build the Fun

Let kids choose their own fillings and roll or fold their crepes. You can set up a “crepe bar” with bowls of fruit, spreads, and toppings — always a hit for family mornings.

Tips for Cooking with Kids

  • Let your children whisk the batter or choose the toppings you use.
  • Pre‑measure ingredients for younger helpers.
  • Make the crepes ahead and let kids fill them at the table.
  • Cut crepes into “crepe roll‑ups” for easy toddler eating.

Kid‑Friendly Homemade Tater Tots– Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and totally child‑approved

Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt (use less for very young kids)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional, mild)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons all‑purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional, adds flavor without being strong)
  • 1–2 tablespoons oil for brushing or spraying

Instructions

1. Prep the potatoes

  • Peel potatoes and cut into chunks.
  • Boil for 6–7 minutes — just until slightly tender but still firm.
  • Drain and let cool a few minutes.

2. Shred and mix

  • Grate the par‑cooked potatoes using the large side of a grater.
  • Add salt, garlic powder, pepper, flour, and Parmesan.
  • Gently mix with your hands or a spatula.
    • Kid step: Let them sprinkle in the seasonings and help mix.

3. Shape the tots

  • Scoop small portions and press into mini cylinders.
  • Place on a parchment‑lined baking sheet.
    • Kid step: Kids love rolling and shaping the little “potato logs.”

4. Bake or air fry

Bake:

  • Brush or spray tots lightly with oil.
  • Bake at 425°F for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden.

Air Fry:

  • Air fry at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway.

Tips for Extra Success

  • If the mixture feels too soft, add another teaspoon of flour.
  • For toddlers, make “mini tot bites” instead of full tots.
  • Freeze extras before baking — they cook beautifully from frozen.

Optional Fun Mix‑Ins

Keep them mild so they stay kid‑friendly:

  • Add finely shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Or you can add very finely minced steamed Broccoli
  • If you want a pinch of color, you can add Paprika
  • You can also use a mashed Sweet Potato for a half‑and‑half blend

Thank you,
