Take a virtual field trip to Palmer, Alaska to see the Musk Ox Farm! This non-profit farm is dedicated to the preservation and domestication of these Ice Age Mammals and to the production of “qiviut”, a fine wool from the Musk Ox.
When you get to the site you’ll see an invitation to sign up for a Zoom virtual field trip of the farm. Take a look at the calendar and sign up for the date and time that works for your family.

Additionally, you can browse the horizontal menu at the top of the page to learn about the mission and history of the Musk Ox Farm under the “About Us” tab. Under the “Education” tab, see photographs of the musk ox and learn about their natural history including information on breeding and how they defend themselves against predators. Find out about their special wool (includes a downloadable color PDF). Be sure to check out the “Events” section too. You’ll see pictures of the “Annual Running with the Bulls” that takes place each year in August.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
