How do I switch formulas after breastfeeding?

When I had my first child, I was over the moon. My long-awaited daughter has filled my life with meaning, passion and incredible experience.

I lived in a new way every day. I enjoyed every moment I have spent with my baby. The most sensitive thing was infant feeding. When I first hugged the baby, I felt a reunion, like before the baby was born. Thank God for breast milk was enough the child ate it fully and grew fast. Everyone was happy.

Time goes too fast, and after four and a half years, I had a second child – a wonderful son. The experience was the same: euphoria and happiness again. Of course, as an experienced mom, I thought things would go as planned.

But that’s not what happened.  We had a situation where my son was five months old and I had to go to work and my baby was being looked after by its grandmother. I tried to do everything I could to preserve the breast milk, but unfortunately, the lactation went down and down.

HOW TO SWITCH TO FORMULA  AFTER BREASTFEEDING

If you feel strongly that you need to switch to artificial feeding, you should first get counseling from a pediatrician and find a formula that meets all the needs of the baby.

Due to the problem of reduced lactation, it was decided to switch to baby formula. After a long consultation, our pediatrician recommended that we try Similac Pro-Access Infant Formula with Iron. We chose the second formula, which corresponded to the age of our baby.

The composition of the formula was balanced by nutrients and micronutrients, adapted for breast milk. But after a few days of consumption, I realized that the formula wasn’t right for my son. The baby had got colic, excessive gas and burps. The baby was always cranky and didn’t gain weight. It was a disaster for me.

I know that healthy infant nutrition has a decisive influence on the child’s further mental and physical development. The child’s body is not resistant to external influences, has a low immunity and therefore requires careful care and a well-chosen diet.

EXPERIENCE WITH EUROPEAN BABY FORMULA

After a bad experience with an American formula, I decided to try European baby formula. We went through a lot of medical surveys, took a long look at all possible mixtures from Europe and after a final consultation with the pediatrician chose HiPP Combiotic a new generation of dairy products based on breast milk. It contains probiotics, prebiotics, Omega 3 and nucleotides.

Then came the question of where to buy this mix in the states,  we went to the shops for a long time, searched the Internet and eventually found a store with the right product. Unfortunately, the site had too high prices and a long delivery, but we did order the right formula.

HiPP Combiotic is a new generation of dairy products based on breast milk. It contains probiotics, prebiotics, Omega 3 and nucleotides.

After the consumption of this formula, the emotional and physical condition of the child has improved. Colic and vomiting have decreased. But again, it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. The baby didn’t like the taste of the formula. He would eat through force, the feeding process would take hours. So it’s obvious that this formula wasn’t good enough.

We decided to try another formula, this time ordering on a site that I learned about from an advertisement on the internet (Organic Best Shop), we were surprised by the prices, the services and the possibility of quick free delivery. We again chose European quality, it was an organic formula of Holle Organik Infant Follow- on 2 Formula, which is suitable for babies from 6 months. It is made from goat’s milk and the composition of the product is very good – 99% natural, organic ingredient.

And finally, this formula was perfect. The baby ate it with pleasure, and most of all, he started to gain weight and sleep well at night. Another nice thing was that you could use it to make oatmeal as a dairy base.

Since that moment, the baby’s only been eating that blend, and everyone was happy.
So, my advice to all moms, never give up and provide your child with quality and healthy food.
