Ice Play

Charlie is attending school this Summer. I wanted Charlie to get used to going every day. Helping us become more prepared next year. Helping us get used to a schedule I wanted to make sure Charlie knows all he needs to know for 4th grade. Until school begins, we will be working at home and this week its Ice Play.

It’s hot here in Texas Ice Play will cool us off. If you’re Homeschooling, you can have fun and still learn. When were caught up in our lessons Charlie can bring friends in and have them do Science Experiments with us?

It’s Summer and all of Charlie friends are outside playing and Charlie is inside at the Dining room table working. I wanted to find things that are fun then Charlie would be more willing to do his lessons.

I believe this will keep Charlie from complaining all the time. I’ve even thought of us planting another garden or doing a Treasure Hunt or Scavenger Hunt.

This week we’ll be doing projects that involve Ice and studying Bugs.  I plan on purchasing Plastic Bugs and putting them in places Charlie wouldn’t expect to find them.

Then Charlie can write about where he finds the Bugs and what types of bugs he finds. I even plan on freezing the bugs in ice for Charlie to break out. Then we can see how long it takes him to get to the bugs out of the Ice which would be Math Class and Science Class.

I picked some Ice Trays, and we can freeze a bug or two in an Ice Cube. I also picked up Kool-Aid so I can make different colored drinks. Then I plan on placing bugs in the bottom of the cups. As Charlie drinks his glass, he will find a bug inside it. I can’t wait to see his face when this happens.

I wanted to have a few more ideals for Ice Play and  I decided to check on Pinterest  where I found a whole page of projects for Charlie to do with David and I.

Then I thought you might want t to check out Ice Play. If your looking for items for insects or bugs, I would also like to suggest you check out Pinterest.

I found two whole pages of resources we can use in our Homeschool class. Using these resource would take us much longer than the 2 weeks we plan on studying bugs. Do not get overwhelmed as you can always do a few now and later in the year revisit bugs and study more resources.

Be watching to see what all Charlie and I do our when we do our studies on Ice and Insects/ Bugs. As well as what supplies we need to do these Lessons with.

If your in Dallas/ Fort Worth come and join us. We would love having a new friend. If you’ve done Ice Play or studied Bugs/Insects in your classroom and have some lessons, you would like to share with us  leave me a comment and I will have Charlie check the resources out with me.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie, and David Cates
