Our Coffee Bar Snack Station for the Week: Coffee, Cakes, and Sweet Treats Everyone Loves

Beverages Food Home Decor

I love being able to step out of mine or Charlie’s room and see the Coffee bar waiting for us., I stepped out of my room, This has quickly become one of my favorite little spots in our home that is ready to be used when Charlie or I want Coffee.

In the past couple months this spot has become more than just a place to make coffee. It has become one of those gathering spots where everyone seems to stop at one point or another throughout the day. My new review items are next to the bar waiting to be done.

David grabs a snack before heading to work from my stash. Charlie comes through looking for a Coffee flavor he hasn’t tried. Bradley checks to see what Coffee is left. Even Bear and Pheobie come by hoping somebody drops something, although they usually settle for a little attention instead.

This week I decided to fill the coffee bar with plenty of goodies. Since everyone is on different schedules, I like having something quick that can be grabbed with a glass of milk in the morning as I begin my work day so I don’t end up with a headache

. Sometimes breakfast is a big meal around here if David is off , and sometimes it is simply a cup of coffee or a glass of milk and something sweet while we get our day started. As I arranged everything, I couldn’t help but smile because it looked like a little bakery had moved into our townhouse.

Sitting on the counter are the single serve chocolate Bundt Cakes from Walmart, which have always been one of my favorite treats. They’re rich, moist, and just enough chocolate to satisfy that sweet tooth without feeling like I’ve overdone it. Next to them sits the lemon Bundt cake, which has a light flavor that pairs perfectly with coffee or a glass of milk in the morning.

There are also wild blueberry muffins I purchased for Charlie when he wants something with his coffee. The blueberry flavor is one of those classic flavors that reminds me of the days Charlie would be getting ready for school. The muffins are soft and make a wonderful breakfast or afternoon snack. I know Daivd’s dad would love them as well.

We also picked up a banana nut cake and a mini banana nut cream cake with nuts I can’t wait to try. Banana desserts always remind me of my grandmother Dorie’s baking and her homemade treats. There’s something about these Cakes and the flavor that makes it feel like home.

Of course, no coffee bar around here would be complete without brownies. Sometimes you simply need chocolate, and these brownies are perfect for those moments. David even picked up a couple marshmallow crispy treats because they’re fun, easy to grab, and he enjoys them. These teats remind me of childhood and simpler days when the biggest decision was whether to have one treat or two.

The best part of our coffee station isn’t really the snacks, though. It’s the coffee itself. The boys have been enjoying Community Coffee, including the Cinnamon Roll flavor. Walking out my door and smelling coffee brewing in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day. There is just something comforting about that smell drifting through the house. It makes our home feel warm and welcoming.

Some people have fancy coffee bars with expensive decorations and matching containers. Ours is much simpler, but it fits our family perfectly. It isn’t about making everything look perfect. It is about creating a place where everyone feels comfortable stopping for a few minutes, grabbing a cup of coffee, and sharing a conversation.

Life moves so quickly these days. David is working, Charlie is working and busy, and everyone seems to have different schedules. But somehow, everybody ends up at the coffee bar sooner or later. And that is why the coffee bar was created.

As I sat down this morning and looked at all the treats lined up on the counter, I realized that some of the best moments aren’t expensive vacations or elaborate meals. Sometimes they are found in simple things like fresh coffee, a chocolate Bundt cake, and knowing your family is nearby. Those ordinary little moments are often the memories we treasure the most.

Do you have a coffee station or snack area in your home? I’d love to hear what treats your family enjoys with their morning coffee.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
