Packing Guide for an Action Packed Vacation

Going on a vacation is supposed to be an event that provides relaxation and enjoyment. However, planning and preparing for a vacation can be quite the opposite, causing a lot of stress and anxiety. One of the worst pre-vacation activities that causes the most stress is packing. Many people struggle with packing, never knowing exactly what they should bring with them. Thankfully there are a few universal tips that you can apply to packing, whether you’re flying to Texas to look at Fort Worth houses for sale or taking a bus to an L.A beach. What exactly are those tips, and what should you be looking to pack? Here’s the ultimate packing guide.

Clothes

The most essential thing you’ll need to pack for your vacation is your clothes. Packing clothes for a vacation is always hard, as you always seem to either pack too little or too much. Packing the right amount of clothes is essential to maximizing the enjoyment of your vacation. Another thing you need to consider is the weather of your vacation destination. Oftentimes your destination has a completely different climate than where you live, meaning you’ll have to pack an entirely different set of clothes than what you’re used to wearing. You also need to consider what type of activities you’ll be doing on your vacation as well. Do you need to pack swimsuits for swimming, or do you need to pack clothes for hiking and running? These are all things you need to consider when packing your clothes for a vacation.

Entertainment

When going on an action-packed vacation, entertainment probably isn’t the first thing that you consider packing. After all, you’ll likely be entertained by the vacation itself and all of the activities you’ll be doing. However, getting to your destination could be quite tedious, and you’ll want to make sure that you have some sort of entertainment option packed. For example, you may want to pack a book to read for your flight, or you may want some other entertainment option like a gaming console. If you plan on setting aside a day for relaxation or sunbathing on your vacation, then an entertainment option can also come in handy as well. Vacations should be fun and enjoyable, and packing some entertainment can ensure that there aren’t large swathes of time where you have nothing to do.

Toiletries

An extremely underrated part of packing is bringing your own toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, and soap. You’ll likely be away from home for a decent amount of time, so you’ll want to bring toiletries with you to make you feel clean and refreshed. You could always just use the free toiletries offered to you wherever you’re staying, but these toiletries are often subpar and can even create problems with your skin and hair. However, packing toiletries is often difficult, especially if you’re traveling by air. Security guidelines have limits over what size bottles you can bring onto flights and what types of liquids you can bring along. As a result, packing toiletries can be quite the hassle, but if done properly it can greatly increase the enjoyment and comfort of your vacation.

Pack Lightly

Despite how important it is to have all of your essentials packed with you, you’re going to have to balance the amount that you pack. Doing this means that you’ll have to determine what is truly important and only take the absolute essentials with you. In many cases, over packing can be just as bad and annoying as under packing can be. It’s hard to lug around a massive suitcase on vacation, especially if you plan on purchasing souvenirs and memorabilia once you get to your location. In addition, transportation methods like planes and buses may charge you more for heavy suitcases and a large number of bags. As a result, it is imperative that you find that balance between packing what you need and still packing relatively light.
