What’s the Deal with National Pancake Day?

While there are actually multiple Pancake Days throughout the year (including one tied to Mardi Gras in February), September 26 is widely recognized in the U.S. as a social media-driven celebration of pancakes. It’s not tied to any religious or historical tradition—just pure love for pancakes.

How People Celebrate:

  • Free Pancakes: Some restaurants, like IHOP, have been known to offer free stacks or special deals.
  • Creative Pancake Recipes: From banana oat pancakes to red velvet stacks, foodies go wild with inventive flavors.
  • Social Media Fun: Expect a flood of #NationalPancakeDay posts featuring syrupy stacks, pancake art, and breakfast selfies.

Fun Pancake Facts:

  • The earliest pancakes date back to ancient Greece and Rome.
  • The world’s largest pancake was over 49 feet wide!
  • Pancakes are enjoyed differently around the world—think crêpes in France, blinis in Russia, and dorayaki in Japan.
