It’s been forever it seems since the world was on lock down due to Covid yet, people are still dealing with Covid even though its May of 2024. Yes, it’s Summer and at times Covid still rears its ugly hear. I believe we all should practice kindness each and every day and this is what I work hard to instill in my family. Which is why I was excited to sit down and read Sing A Song of Kindness A Tender Tale on Classic Nursery Rhymes.

Before I opened the Sing A Song of Kindness, I enjoyed having the book sitting on my desk where I could glance at the cover from time to time. I liked seeing the Bears and all the pretty colors they used to make the cover stand out. The music symbols drew Charlie to the book and Charlie began asking me what the story was about.

I sat down this morning and began to read Sing A Song of Kindness and as I began reading the rhymes, I found myself reciting Nursery Rhymes I had learned as a child. Then I would discuss the rhymes with Charlie and asked Charlie if he recognized the rhymes. Charlie said he did know some of them and some of the rhymes Charlie didn’t recognize which will lead to new Homeschool lessons this year.

Songs like Twinkle Twinkle will allow us to practice singing in our Music Class as well as illustrating what we think is happening in the Sky for our Art Class. Would you like to join us in class this week? Can you tell me where they got Itsy-Bitsy Planet from? Charlie thinks it’s from the song Itsy Bitsy Spider. Do you think Charlie is right or wrong?

Then there was the Poem/ Song “This Is the Way” which took me a while to figure out but once I did I was able to let Charlie know we could adapt this song for our PE Class. Would you like to join us in our PE Class and see how we adapted this rhyme to the thing we will be doing in class this week as well as how I used it when walking and getting my steps in.

My favorite Poem from the book was “Five Little Speckled Frogs”. Charlie and Suzzane learned this song when they were in kindergarten. I remember they would sing for this sone for me when they were little. Allowing me to remember times from the past and how we were all kind to each other back them.
