The Story of Gumluck The Wizard

I wanted to share a new children’s book from Chronicle Kids with you The Story of Gumluck The Wizard by Adam Rex which I received a physical copy of for this review.

Although I knew when David say the title of the book he would want to read the story and might talk Charlie into reading it with him. This morning I sat down and read the book and there was words I hadn’t heard of which Charlie. I can use in our Homeschool Language Art Class for Spelling. Charlie will also like the illustrations and I can see Charlie redrawing these pictures in his Art Cass.

The Story of Gumluck The Wizard is a chapter book which will allow us to read a little bit a day and since this book begins on Monday and ends on Monday we can read a day at a time and act like we are in the storyline that will catch you on the edge of yur seat. Being told through a Raven was fun and Charlie and I can go outside and watch for Birds this week.

I liked the truth fairy and how the people talked about Gumlick who didn’t think it was him they were talking about. You should remember to tell others thank you like he kept reminding people. The Story of Gumluck The Wizard you will learn how importan friends are and why we all need them.

I believe The Story of Gumluck The Wizard is for Middle Age Children unless you take the time to explain things to younger children who would enjoy this story as well. Charlie is 16 and he said he wouldn’t mind reading the entire series with David and I and I wouldn’t either. I believe The Story of Gumluck The Wizard should be in school libraries.

Meet Gumluck the Wizard, the star of a new chapter book series by the inimitable Adam Rex!

This is a story about magic, if you like that kind of thing. It is also a story about a ghost with amnesia, an unpopular fairy, an ungrateful little town, and an extremely wise and helpful raven (who happens to be a pretty talented storyteller). But mostly, it is about a friendly little wizard who lives inside a big hill and really, really, really wants to be a hero. His name is Gumluck, and he is a bumbling noodlehead.

About the book:

In this tall tale about a short wizard, celebrated author Adam Rex proves once and for all that the biggest heroes often come in the smallest nightgowns.

Perfect for: • Fans of Adam Rex
• Parents and grandparents seeking funny children’s book series
• Teachers and librarians looking for engaging children’s fantasy and magic books
• Anyone looking for fantasy chapter books
• Readers who enjoy Chris Colfer’s A Tale of Magic, the Unicorn Academy series, and Magic Tree House books

Meet the Author: Adam Rex

Adam Rex grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, the middle of three children. He now lives in Tucson with his physicist wife Marie.

His picture book FRANKENSTEIN MAKES A SANDWICH, a collection of stories about monsters and their problems, was a New York Times Bestseller. 2007 saw the release of his first novel, THE TRUE MEANING OF SMEKDAY.

Garlic and crosses are useless against Adam. Sunlight has been shown to be at least moderately effective. A silver bullet does the trick. Pretty much any bullet, really.

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
