Chinese New Year’s is celebrated by billions of people around the World. The date of Chinese New Year’s changes every year. Chinese New Year’s is a 15-day celebration, beginning on the first day of the new Moon, and ends on the full Moon. The celebration on the15th day is called the Chinese Lantern Festival.

Chinese culture is amongst the oldest in the world. While the rest of the world is in the early years of the third millennium, Chinese culture is in their fifth millennium.

In Chinese Astrology, every year is represented by an animal. The cycle is twelve years, with a different animal each year.

Chinese New Year’s or Spring Festival is the largest Holiday in Chinese culture. Chinese New Year is celebrated with festivities, fireworks, brightly colored lights, special meals with family and gift giving. National Freedom Day– always on February 1st.

National Freedom Day celebrates freedom from Slavery and recognizes that America is a symbol of freedom.

National Freedom Day was established in 1948 to remind us that America stands for and is a symbol of freedom for all people. The roots of this special day come directly from the end of Slavery and the signing of the 13th Amendment outlawing Slavery.

Celebrate this Holiday by reflecting upon your own freedoms that you enjoy by being fortunate enough to be in America. Millions of people in the world are not free.

History and Origin of National Freedom Day:

Major Richard Robert Wright Sr., a former slave, created National Freedom Day. Major Richard Robert Wright Sr. believed that there should be a day when freedom for all Americans is celebrated. President Lincoln signed the 13th Amendment outlawing Slavery on February 1st, 1865. So, February 1st was chosen to celebrate National Freedom Day.

On June 30th, 1948, President Harry Truman signed the bill proclaiming February 1st as National Freedom Day.

No Politics Day– always held on February 1st.

Isn’t it about time somebody said …. “Give it a rest!!

After all the angst, and negativity of recent elections, and the protests over installation of newly elected officials at just about all levels, normal Americans have had it with both politicians, and the political rancor. Isn’t it time to take a break from politics? I think one thing we all can agree upon, is that a break from politics would be refreshing. If only for a day.

Today is No Politics Day. That means no political activities and no political statements of any kind whatsoever. No facebook or twitter posts, no discussions or debates, and no sharing or spreading political articles, comics, or other materials. No fake news today. The news media should also participate in this Holiday, but we have little faith that the media will comply, as all the negativity sells TV, Radio and Print Ads.

It was quickly decided not to make this a National Holiday, as that would require an act of Congress or a Presidential proclamation. There is no way politicians would vote for this Holiday, without a whole lot of political lobbying. Could you imagine any politician voting for no politics, even if only for a day?

Let’s all celebrate this refreshing and relaxing Holiday. There will be plenty of time for politics tomorrow.

History and Origin of No Politics Day:

Many Americans from both sides of the aisle, are disgusted and fed up with the ugliness of politics.. We want a break from all the bickering, and negativity. We need a break from Politics. This is the reason, that No Politics Day was conceived

This special Holiday was established in 2017 by Bob Matthews, of Rochester, NY.

Spunky Old Broads Day– always on February 1st.

Spunky Old Broads Month is February.

Spunky Old Broads Day is upon us. Aren’t you glad!?

This special Holiday exists to give all Spunky Old Broads (S.O.B.) a day to recognize their importance, and to celebrate themselves and their accomplishments. Spunky Old Broads Day is also a perfect day for the young ladies among us an opportunity to begin planning and preparing to become a Spunky Old Broad someday.

When thinking about what an S.O. B. should be, one thinks of: successful, independent, self-reliant, smart, intelligent, outgoing and out-spoken, resourceful, bold, brave, and anything but shy women.

Spunky Old Broads Day Slogan: Women are like fine wine. We get better with age.

What do you do on this Holiday? According to the originator “Although I am the Spunky Old Broad, generally for women it means Spunky, Open and Brave. I think that says it all.” As for you guys out there, you should be supportive and understanding of course. Rather than criticize, it might be great to appreciate these women for who they are.

Among many other things, Dr. Gayle Carson, the originator of this Holiday, is author of “How to Be an S.O.B–A Spunky Old Broad Who Kicks Butt.” A “must read” for all spunky old broads, or anyone who aspires to be a spunky old broad.

Having just one day to celebrate being spunky old broads is hardly enough. Dr. Carson turned February into Spunky Old Broads Month. She also picks a Spunky Old Broad of the Year. Past winners have been Cloris Leachman, Dolly Parton, Sharon Osbourne, Goldie Hawn, Katie Couric, Helen Mirren. Wouldn’t you like to be considered a winner with this group of women because I would.

FYI Spunky Old Broads Day is a trademarked holiday.

This very special Holiday was created by Dr. Gayle Carson in 2002. While emailing her about this day, she proclaimed… “I am known as Dr. Gayle S.O.B. Spunky Old Broad”. She was both sincere and proud to be an S.O.B.

Dr Carson also said “I started Spunky Old Broads Day because I found that once a woman hit 50, she was almost invisible and as a woman who keeps reinventing herself and is very active in business, media etc, I wanted to acknowledge that is not the truth. My newsletter goes out every Monday making a point about this.
