Strong healthy communication patterns

Do you have a strong healthy communication pattern with your family? In my family I do not think we have as good of one as we should. So today I was so happy to be able to take another course in the 2016 Digital Homeschool Convention and to be able to watch a class geared toward Healthy Communication.

The class is called “How to Build Strong and Healthy Communication Patterns- Dr. Scott Turansky. And I like how we can use the tips he gave us not only in our private lives but also our public lives. And inside our Homeschooling class as well.

Our Mission

Parents today often gravitate toward a behavior modification approach to parenting. But relying on rewards and punishment to get things done seldom changes the heart. Parents say, ” If you clean your room you can go out and play,” or “Finish your homework, then you can watch TV.” The problem is that behavior modification appeals to the selfishness in kids. It basically says, “If you do what I say, you can have what you want.” Children then learn to ask the wrong kinds of questions. Instead of asking ” What’s in it for me?” we want kids to ask the question, “What is the right thing to do?” We’re not saying that behavior modification is wrong. It’s just incomplete. God gave each person a heart and if you use a heart-based approach with kids then you have a whole new bucket of parenting resource

Thank you,
