Did A Truck Run Over Me This Morning?

Good morning, How are you today? As we begin a new day I am back with Day 19 in the Ultimate Blogging Challenge. Although I must confess I feel like a truck ran over me this morning.

I woke up around 4 am hurting and believe it or not Charlie was still up. Now I must have fallen asleep last night during So You Think You Can Dance as I don’t remember who moved forward and who was sent home.

Which is horrible to admit as a parent that we fall asleep and our child is up wandering the house. Although Charlie is 9 and can take care of himself and stays in his room playing his game or with his action figures.

So David left for work and Charlie was about to drive me to drink so I finally was able to get him to come get on the couch with me and tell him  I loved him and next thing I know he was asleep. It is 8 am and he is still sleeping.

Now, I could wake him up or I could be bad and just let him sleep until he wakes up. Which might be when his dad walks in the door from work. Which means you would think he would stay up all night again wouldn’t he and the answer to that question is no.

You see we are going swimming this afternoon and will be at the pool for 2 full hours which will not only wear Charlie out but also David and I. So he will get a good nights sleep tonight and be ready to head out to another water park tomorrow as David is off.

So now you might wander what this has to do with today’s Ultimate Blog Challenge and so let me share with you today’s prompt:

“Opening up and being vulnerable is a great way to get people to connect with you. Write about something today that shows a mistake that you made and how you worked through it.”

So the mistake I made is falling asleep without making sure Charlie had brushed his teeth and was in bed at a decent time and to work through it we have changed our schedule and plans for today.

Because as he sleeps I am able to work. Although this will not work for long as he will be back in school and we have to get back on a regular schedule soon and yes, we will still fail at it but I can try to do better.

So today what have you failed at and how did you fix it?

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates

  1. Great job, Glenda. The real story is the best way to connect with people and I know that you are sincere.
Not to forget that we are human beings and there is no perfection.

Have a wonderful swim today with your son, I swam this morning.

    Have a great one, Gaétane

    1. I have a surprise for David and Charlie this morning once David gets home we are going to the lake and I am going to get into the water and play with Charlie. Damn the #Crocs and #Alligators there not going to sop me. Enjoy your swimming if you go this morning. I do my best to be sincere and to teach it to Charlie. Just as I know you are I agree it is the best way to connect with people.

  2. I wouldn’t call what you did a fail, sounds like Charlie is a very smart kid and can entertain himself when needed. Failures are learning experiences that only make us stronger. Glad you get some well needed rest, hope you had a great time swimming.

    1. Yes, they do and I was able to rest and regroup and make some choices for my family I had been struggling with. Have a Blessed day. Charlie is a smart child and always having him at work with me has made him learn to cope on his own

  3. I think this is my favorite post so far that I’ve read 🙂 You made me smile all through reading it. And, I love your picture with Charlie 🙂 thank you for sharing!!

I love so you think you can dance, too!!

  4. I failed at getting my post out in a timely fashion! Although I am still up since Wednesday, technically, I posted it on Thursday.

THere are worse things that can happen, I am sure!

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Yes, there are and at least you accomplished your post and that is what counts. No, matter what time or day you get it done.

  5. This week I’m struggling to stick with healthy diet and still need a full proof plan to get through this. Charlie is such adorable kid

    1. You can do it and when you find the right diet for you share it with me as I need all the help I can get. As for Charlie yes, he can be cute at times and other times a little stinker I would like to giveaway. But David says in 5 minutes I would be ready to go get him. David is correct but don’t tell him as it would go to his head.
