I don’t know about you, but I’ve been struggling with a mom and my feelings and overrun with stress, I look in the mirror and don’t even feel like myself. From the way I feel to the way I love I hate myself. I don’t feel like I can do anything right,
More and more I’ve been hurting which keeps me from doing things. I love the LORD and no, he doesn’t make mistakes or trash, but I feel like both. Finally last night I broke down. I sat down at my desk to write a letter letting David and Charlie know how I was feeling.
Before I got the letter started, I found Repair with Self-Care: Your Guide to the Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs I picked the book up to browse through until I could get my thoughts in place. I love how the Author helps us reclaim our energy and balance.
The book was created with working moms in mind and what moms should remember is even if they don’t work outside the house they still work, and self-care is important in every stage of a mom’s life. Which more times than not I forget.
Not, that it matters but the Author is a black woman who struggles just like I do. I believe we could be friends. A mom of a toddler daughter and active kindergartener son who travels and like all moms doesn’t sleep much even though I didn’t travel and only had one child at a time I understand about not sleeping.
No, parent should ever lose a child but like me the Author had lost her stepson, so I felt like she understood me. I love how the Author taught me what “motherhood penalty” is and just one of many teaching moments in the book.
There is illustrations or graphs to help us understand what we’re reading. At the end of the book is tools we can use in our daily lives. I can’t wait to share Repair with Self-Care: Your Guide to the Mom’s Hierarchy of Needs with all my girlfriends. I believe this book should be on every best seller-list and in every book club around.
