Born Ruffians U.S. Tour Begins October 2; Band’s Shondi Festoon Returns in December

Entertainment Events Music

I’ve always loved sharing new Musicians and music with Charlie and David. Especially when we were #Homeschooling Charlie. I can’t wait to listen to Born Ruffian’s music who are coming to DFW to see if it’s someone Charlie or David would like to go here. Have you heard of Born Ruffians? If so, what did you think of their music and why?

New Album Beauty’s Pride Out Now

Toronto, ON – September 9, 2025 – Touring in support of their new album, Beauty’s Pride, out now on Yep Roc Records, the Born Ruffians’ U.S. tour will kick off October 2 in Boston with stops in major cities, including Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and more. A complete list of dates is below and tickets are now on sale here. Queen of Jeans will join the band as support on the tour, and the Los Angeles stop on November 8 will feature special guests Allah-Lahs and La Luz

Today, the band announces the return of their celebrated Shondi Festoon, December 5 at The Concert Hall, Toronto. Tickets are on sale this Friday at 10AM ET. Their 8th annual Shondi Festoon is Born Ruffians’ fun re-imagining of the typical December holiday show. A fictional, non-denominational holiday, Shondi Festoon is accompanied by its own bunch of ridiculous Shondi traditions including drinking hot beer, dressing as your best friend, placing food cans under the Shondi Tree, decorating your house with Shondi flowers, and being good so that the Shondi Clown doesn’t come for you!

Watch: Born Ruffians Perform on NPR World Cafe

The news comes as the band is currently taking over the airwaves with their latest album Beauty’s Pride (including a recent in studio performance on NPR’s World Cafe) and stage with their upcoming fall tour, along with the big screen. The band star in Matt Johnson, Jay McCarroll and Jared Raab’s critically acclaimed, Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie, which is premiering at TIFF this week, while Luke Lalonde has just been unveiled as a cast member of the upcoming romantic comedy from writer-director Pavan Moondi, Middle Life, which  also stars July Talk’s Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay Goldstein.

Jared Raab, Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay Goldstein also collaborated with Born Ruffians on the breathtaking  short cinematic companion to their new record of the same name. Directed by Raab, and produced by Dreimanis (who recently starred in the hit film Sinners). The concept was developed collaboratively by Born Ruffians, Raab, along with Dreimanis and Goldstein and follows band members Luke, Mitch, Steve, and Maddy as they navigate the evolving dynamics of artistry, identity, and legacy.

Watch/ShareBeauty’s Pride | A Film by Jared Raab & Born Ruffians

Their ninth studio album, Beauty’s Pride signifies the rebirth of this band and the record witnesses them savouring a rejuvenating sensation that few artists get to experience as they enter their third decade of music-making. Pretty much all of the bands Born Ruffians came up with in the mid-2000s Toronto scene are long gone.  Born Ruffians have arrived at the point where a lot of bands give in to the nostalgic lure of album-anniversary tours or call it quits. But the beauty of Beauty’s Pride lies in its refusal to accept any of those predestined fates. Rather, it presents Born Ruffians as the rare veteran act that can still make you feel like you’re discovering your new favourite band.

Recorded with returning Birthmarks producer Roger Leavens, and featuring mixing assistance from Gus Van Go (Metric, The Beaches), Beauty’s Pride is out now via Wavy Haze Records.
