Welcome to the first official edition of Townhome Treasures, a new series here on TheMommiesReviews.com where we’ll be taking a closer look at the products, books, household items, gifts, kitchen gadgets, decorations, and everyday treasures that have found a home in our North Texas Townhome.
Some of these items we will be reviewing are brand new. Other products have been part of our lives for years. Today’s review falls into the second category. And it is one of the best purchases I’ve bought in a long time for myself that I use everyday.
Years ago, while shopping at Walmart, when we still lived in our Mobile Home I came across a retro-style microwave in a beautiful teal color that matched out kitchen perfectly. Depending on who you ask, some people call it teal while others call it turquoise, but whatever color name you use, it immediately caught my eye.
At the time, it was priced around $25, which made it an affordable purchase for our family. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy. I simply wanted a microwave that would do its job while adding a little personality to our home. So we could make Charlie’s Pizza and David’s Popcorn.
Little did I know that years later it would still be sitting in our townhome and become part of our daily routine. Instead of being in the kitchen since Gerald brough his microwave down which is bigger I’ve moved it upstairs to my Coffee bar for Charlie and I to use.
One of the things I love most about this microwave is its appearance. So many kitchen appliances today are black, white, or stainless steel. There is nothing wrong with those colors, but they can sometimes feel a little boring. This microwave added a pop of color and gave our space a fun retro vibe.
Today it sits on our coffee bar, where it has become a permanent fixture in our home. Whether we’re reheating leftovers, warming a cup of coffee, making a quick snack, or preparing something late at night, this little microwave gets used regularly.
Over the years, it has handled everything we’ve asked it to do. It may not have all the advanced features that newer models offer, but it has proven to be dependable. Sometimes the appliances that last the longest are the ones that keep things simple.
Another thing I appreciate is its size. Because it isn’t oversized, it fits comfortably on our coffee bar without taking over the entire area. When living in a tiny home, apartment or town home space is important and finding appliances that fit your space can make a big difference. Of course, no product is perfect.
This microwave isn’t the most powerful model on the market, and it doesn’t include a lot of bells and whistles. If you’re looking for dozens of preset cooking functions or smart technology, this probably wouldn’t be the microwave for you. But for a college dorm room or someone just starting out it works perfectly.
However, if you’re looking for a microwave that is affordable, easy to use, attractive, and dependable, then this little retro model has a lot going for it. Even after all these years I still see them at Walmart once in a while and I wouldn’t mind having another one incase this one goes out.
Looking back, I’m honestly surprised by how well it has held up. When we purchased it, I never imagined I would still be using it years later. Yet here it is, still helping us heat meals, warm drinks, and get through busy days. Its become a part of the family Charlie says.
That’s one of the reasons I wanted this microwave to be the first review in our Townhome Treasures series. It perfectly represents what this series is all about. Not every treasure in a home is expensive. Not every favorite item is brand new. Sometimes the things we appreciate most are the ones that quietly serve us day after day without asking for much attention.
Would I buy this microwave again? Absolutely. It has been reliable, affordable, and a fun addition to our home. For a purchase that cost around $25, I feel like we have certainly gotten our money’s worth.
Final Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars
