Homeschooling Resources: Remedia Publications presents Life Skills

The Mommies Reviews
August 4, 2020August 4, 2020Glenda C.

I remember when my niece Alex and my daughter Leslie graduated from High School there were skills they didn’t know. Including how to read a analog clock or how to write a check.

Remedia Publications

When I begin teaching Charlie I knew I wanted to make sure he knew all of these skills. Including how to write in Cursive. As I was preparing our lesson plans the other day we went to Mardels to pick up workbooks for Charlie to use.

The clerk Tina showed me a set of workbooks which can be used in Homeschooling or even Public School. But honestly I would use these resources even if I wasn’t teaching Charlie.

As the series of workbooks from Remedia Publications is called Life Skills. David and I picked up Budget Math: Life Skills Math Series which will teach Charlie how to set up a budget.

Not only that David and I need to set up a household budget as well as a business budget for my website. We will be working through Budget Math with Charlie.

The multi-step word problems cover adding and subtracting money, multiplying and dividing money, figuring percentages, working with large numbers, and more. This life skills program will help students master math skills that are essential to everyday life!

I also purchased Bank Account Math: Life Skills Math Series because I would like for Charlie to open both a Banking Account and a Savings Account. Charlie can put in the money he makes from his Lawn Mowing business.

Last but not least I purchased Credit Card math. I want to get Charlie a Debit Card with his checking account or a pre-paid card that he can load with money.

Credit Card Math: Life Skills Math Series

When Charlie wants to load money onto his games he would have his own Credit Card. Charlie wouldn’t have to borrow mine or David’s. If he didn’t have money on his credit card then he would know he couldn’t do anything on his game. Teaching Charlie the value of a dollar.

If I had been smart I would have taken the names of these books down and came home and looked them up online. As they are sold in a set called Life Skills Math Series (5-Book Set). Instead of purchasing them separately which would have saved me money.

Life Skills Math Series (5-Book Set)

A really practical application of math. Each book includes activities such as reading comprehension, filling out forms, using a glossary, and answering math word problems.

The multi-step word problems cover adding and subtracting money, multiplying and dividing money, figuring percentages, working with large numbers, and more. This life skills program will help students master math skills that are essential to everyday life! Each book includes answer key.

Students will gain hands-on experience practicing the math they will use in the real world. The realistic activities in this series will teach students about paying bills, keeping a transaction register, filling out a credit card application, shopping online, using a debit card, making and keeping to a budget, shopping for the best buy, and so much more!

Charlie will need to take a PE class this year and I wasn’t sure how to teach PE. Now, I don’t have to worry. I can purchase Personal Care Series: Exercise

Personal Care Series: Exercise

What do the human body and the automobile have in common? Both need tune-ups to work efficiently.

Just as a car needs oil and gasoline to make the parts go, the human body needs exercise. Exercise makes us feel better, improves our strength and coordination, increases oxygen flow, and helps to keep us healthy. The human body, just like a car, is made to move. When it doesn’t, things start to break down.

This easy-to-use book is a great way to provide students with up-to-date information on the principles of exercise while simultaneously improving their reading comprehension skills.

Relevant, high-interest activities follow each reading selection and challenge students to: read for details, make inferences, find the main idea, find facts, summarize data, build vocabulary, draw conclusions, restate information, and make decisions.

Don’t forget to check out the clearance section:

Thank you,

Glenda, Charlie and David Cates
