Earth Day Homeschool Resources

Charlie and I would like to invite you to come and learn about Earth Day with us. Through Earth Day Homeschool Resources we have put together for our classroom. Which we thought you might enjoy as well.

Join Earth Day Network on Earth Day 2018 – April 22 – to help end plastic pollution. Plastic is threatening our planet’s survival, from poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our streams and landfills. Together, we can make a difference.

Charlie and Lola: We Are Extremely Very Good Recyclers by Lauren Child

After Charlie convinces Lola to recycle her old toys instead of throwing them away, Lola discovers a recycling competition. If she can recover one hundred plastic, metal, and paper items, she can get her very own real live tree to plant. But she only has two weeks, so Lola decides to ask her classmates to help. They turn out to be extremely very good recyclers indeed.

This adventure is printed on FSC-approved paper and includes recycling tips as well as a tree poster just like Lola’s, so kids can keep track of their recycling projects and help to save the planet all on their own.

Our Big Home: An Earth Poem by Linda Glaser

Young children usually think of their home as the structure in which they live. In Our Big Home, the author and illustrator present a much more critical vision of home as the planet Earth.Linda Glaser beautiful poem is a lovely way to gently lead children toward the all-important understanding of caring for our environment. In her lyrical, child-oriented style, she presents the idea that our big home is shared not only with all people but with all plants and animals as well. She shows that we share the air, the water, the soil, and other elements that affect and sustain all of us who live on Earth. Elisa Kleven vibrant art enhances the concept as she takes young readers to an African plain, a Caribbean island, a South American mountain, and around the world to see people and animals reveling in the beauty and abundance of our shared home.
