National Peach Pie Day is celebrated on August 24 of every year. There isn’t a day in the year without feasting one’s passion for food. And of course, Peach Pie Day marks the celebration for those that love Peach Pie.

The Holiday is celebrated during the Harvest Season of Peaches. Try out a Peach Pie on National Peach Pie Day, because its the best day to try this Pie if you haven’t before.

The History and origin of this Holiday is unknown. The Peach Fruit Harvest usually takes place between the months of June and August. If you have missed out on the celebration of National Eat A Peach Day, then this day is absolutely for you.

Any Pie is a baked dish prepared by a Pastry Dough covering the fillings of your choice which for today should be Peaches. That is if you want to celebrate this Holiday.

The fillings will usually be Sweet or contain Spicy Ingredients. Pies can be served in a variety of sizes, from bite-size to the ones designed for multiple servings.

A pie made with fresh Peaches is delicious to eat. The creamy and delicious Peach Pie is more than a dessert. The Peach Pie can be served with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Peaches are rich in Nutritional Content, and the Peach Pie will be an added advantage to those who love pies, and those who find it difficult to eat plain Peaches. Now, fill your mouth with ta slice of Peach Pie and make  National Peach Pie Day more enjoyable.

Peach Pie Recipe

Peach Pie Recipe - BettyCrocker.com
  • 1 (15 ounce) Package Pastry for a 9 inch Double Crust Pie
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 5 cups sliced peeled Peaches
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice
  • ½ cup all-purpose Flour
  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • Step 1 Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Step 2 Line the bottom and sides of a 9 inch Pie Plate with one of the Pie Crusts. Brush with some of the beaten Egg to keep the Dough from becoming soggy later.
  • Step 3 Place the sliced Peaches in a large bowl, and sprinkle with Lemon Juice. Mix gently. In a separate bowl, mix together the Flour, Sugar, Cinnamon, nutmeg and Salt. Pour over the Peaches, and mix gently. Pour into the Pie Crust, and dot with Butter. Cover with the other Pie Crust, and fold the edges under. Flute the edges to seal or press the edges with the tines of a fork dipped in Egg. Brush the remaining Egg over the top crust. Cut several slits in the top crust to vent steam.
  • Step 4 Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for an additional 30 to 35 minutes, until the crust is brown and the juice begins to bubble through the vents. If the edges brown to fast, cover them with strips of Aluminum Foil about halfway through baking. Cool before serving. This tastes better warm than hot.

Here are today’s five thing to know about Peaches:

  1. Did you know? Peaches were once known as Persian Apples.
  2. The saying “You’re a real peach” originated from the tradition of giving a Peach to the friend you liked. Now, if you will excuse me I need to go get you a Peach because you are my friend.
  3. Peaches were mentioned as early as 79 A.D. in literature.
  4. Most Peaches are cultivated by grafting different combinations of rootstocks to scions; not raised from seed
  5. There are over 700 varieties of Peaches-some Chinese varieties are even flat like hockey pucks. Can you imagine that?
